Ability to write semi-coherent report severely impeded by return to full time captivity at HMP Belmarsh Law Firm LLP and consequential lack of time (and sleep).

Was last seen at S/Ford Hills, knocking down showjumps in Int-Nov. Was cross with self. Jumped clear XC. Was less cross with self.

Co-opted husband to do jumps in school. Husband compliant. Husband then uncharacteristically circumspect; suggested I stop there. Don't tire horse out. Was suspicious at appearance of previously unheard-of caution in husband. Jumped off horse to investigate. Jumps well above my boobs. Not because boobs big and droopy; boobs pretty pert, as totally miniscule. Not because am petite and dainty; am great tall gallumpher. Because jumps best part of 1.40m. (Pls note gratuitous reference to boobs for express benefit of fans of boobs.) Felt alarmed. Then felt smug. Then confident for next run at....

ERIDGE INTERMEDIATE

As some may know, had confidence set-back at start of season. Have spent past few months lessoning, training and schooling to fill gaps in knowledge. Knowledge v lacking in first place. Is more gap than knowledge.

DR a typical shambles. Walked SJ. Caught self thinking looked small. Admonished self. Is Intermediate. Is not small. Self clearly lacking in judgement and perception. Self not to be trusted. Warmed up. Was pleased. Husband not pleased, said was rushing. Was made to jump max height upright then was allowed in. Jumped nice round but had one down. Was disappointed.

Started XC. First couple good, backed off a bit at three, four. Kicked hard to get out of sunken road. Kicked too hard. Sailed off into sunset. Was supposed to have turned. Found unsuspecting tree, detoured round tree to turn. Headed to coffin. Kicked again to make skinny wide box on exit. Cantered down long stretch, saw red flag being waved. Thought had inadvertently diverted self into Formula One pitstop. Was not Formula One pitstop. Was hold on course. Had never been held before. But had plan. Walked round, went over next few fences in head. Was re-started. Can all guess where had been held.....

At two corners. Where else?

Was not committed. Had stop at first. Smacked horse. Jumped second time, circled as numbered separately. Jumped second, on to water. Was whacking great slope down, rode harder than looked. Kicked some more on sensing horse hesitation. Next up tricky quarry. Two bounce steps up, skinny on top. V steady. Came off step and kicked like billy-o for two long strides to skinny, square, big, wide box with sharp right turn after. Came to hedge with ditch in front. Fluffed it. Got too close. Scraped right through it and sat well back, hoping landed on feet and not on nose. Whalloped him to avoid repeat at trakhener. Flew over it.

Had World's Worst Dressage Score, mediocre SJ, one stop XC and more time faults than have had hot dinners, but completed an Intermediate!! Would post pics if were up on 'tog site. Now back to work....

1.40?! You are quite clearly bonkers.

I have no idea how you manage work, baby and proper competing, hats off to you. Congrats on the intermediate too, great report (but would be better with pics, c'mon tog!)

Yet another hilarious write up! 1.40 though - why don't you go back to showjumping and win some money instead of all this eventing malarky ;)

That internediate XC course was quite something - huge well done! I felt like I rode for my life round the 90 so am really impressed at your achievements, wish I'd been able to go back on Sunday to watch! Are you going to Brightling?

Well done! I've spent too many hours of my life in Eridge Park and the Intermediate jumps terrify me every time I visit!

You did ride for your life! I am fairly sure that streak of blue/white stripes and a bay horse was you hurtling past my jump.....I barely had time to put a tick in the clear box :D

Very well done...the coffin & quarry were seriously forward committed strides....I suspect if you hadn't been stopped before the corners, you would have been fine. It's a lovely parkland course to ride isn't it?!

Well done - more boob-height fences = more confidence... you should do them more often! Well done on corners and what sounds like a terrifying course. Scary things, corners... and you jumped them both, and you didn't part company from horse. All good :) Time faults, who cares!?

I reckon this is why I never liked jumping bigger jumps: 1.40m on me is about chin height...

Well done! Being held at the corners means you've pretty much definitely smashed through those demons now I bet :) Onwards and upwards :D

Great report as always! 90 was big enough for me there on Sat. Got very scared looking at fence 3 on the Intermediate and didn't look at any more!

Huge well done :)
Nice to see you are letting your good chimp get the upper hand! Now, if you can spare him, I'd like to borrow him for daughter on mad TB.......

Haha thanks :) I'd had 2 showjumps down (most unusual, sack the jockey!) and was determined to get my super pony a clear XC within the time. Which fence was yours? My favourites to ride were 6 (brush) 7 (hay cart) 10 (steeplechase) and 11 (downhill box).

Sorry for the digression H2T! I can only dream of tackling the intermediate there - must work hard at my riding!!! [and perhaps acquire an eventer slightly larger than current 142.5cm pony]

It was definitely a lot easier before work got in the way again...

Lol, bonkers! Sounds pretty good to me especially as you were held at your nemesis ;)

Thanks!

I do wish I could do more BS with him! But I don't seem to give it the time or focus that it would need to go up the grades, and now, I am not even a BS member, which I must admit is unheard of.

Fab report as always. I saw the witty title and knew it would be one of yours.

Congrats on your intermediate completion :)

Hang on. I've never been witty in my life.

Crazy lady

Pot. Kettle. Meerkat.

Same here even though I knew what happened couldn't wait to read the full write up :)

Ha, not that full, I'm afraid!

How was your 90? Yes, am at Brightling! You?

Well done! I've spent too many hours of my life in Eridge Park and the Intermediate jumps terrify me every time I visit!

They were actually ok - a few were a bit tricky but generally I thought it was nice.

Very well done...the coffin & quarry were seriously forward committed strides....I suspect if you hadn't been stopped before the corners, you would have been fine. It's a lovely parkland course to ride isn't it?!

They were! And, with both, you had to some in pretty steady, then serious leg on to get out! How did you get on? I think corner would have been ok, too - they were perfectly nice corners.

Well done - more boob-height fences = more confidence... you should do them more often! Well done on corners and what sounds like a terrifying course. Scary things, corners... and you jumped them both, and you didn't part company from horse. All good :) Time faults, who cares!?

Ha, well I guess jumping the odd big fence does tend to make things look smaller when you go into ring!

I reckon this is why I never liked jumping bigger jumps: 1.40m on me is about chin height...

Well done! Being held at the corners means you've pretty much definitely smashed through those demons now I bet :) Onwards and upwards :D

Ha, thanks! Yes, I guess I have height advantage!

Well done, great report, it was an edge of the seat thriller.

Thanks.

Great report as always! 90 was big enough for me there on Sat. Got very scared looking at fence 3 on the Intermediate and didn't look at any more!

Well done on your result. Vito looked at fence 3 too, but it was so sloping that he could just get underneath it and it was fine.

Brilliant, and with a hold! - I hate holds, they really mess with my head.....

I'd never had one before!

Another brilliant report! Congratulations on completing your first Intermediate! But a 1.40!!! EEEK!

Best of luck with your next outing.

Thanks- wasn't quite my first (though almost), but there'd been a few complications along the way!

Huge well done :)
Nice to see you are letting your good chimp get the upper hand! Now, if you can spare him, I'd like to borrow him for daughter on mad TB.......

Ah - not quite. "The chimp is not good or bad, it is just a chimp. The human is not responsible for the nature of the chimp, any more than a dog owner is responsible for the nature of the dog. However, like the dog owner, the human is responsible for the actions of the chimp." Steve Peters. Crucial point, that! Your daughter needs to make friends with her chimp! (Or just bribe him with food.)

Hmmm, she has just had a work appraisal - guess what, they cannot understand her lack of self confidence. She is good at her job etc etc, same as her riding. I could dance up & down with frustration. Her chimp would probably end up saying, "Ooh, I'm not sure, what do you REALLY think, that is a VERY big ditch/hedge/drop...."
However, I digress, fabulous well done to you & the lovely Vito. We are in the SE, so always take an interest in your doings with Vito :)

Amazing, such progress you're making even if you are slightly disappointed with cornergate...

You've got to remember, as an amateur doing Intermediate, you're in the minority and you're not too shabby at all!

Love reading the reports, so entertaining, even if all you want to do is put yourself down and tell us how useless you are- WE DON'T BELIEVE YOU! ;)

As above, I think I avoided UI last time by biting my tongue but you are AWESOME!!!!!!! :D :D ;)

Great report, excellent mention of boobage :D and it sounds like corner-gate will soon be a thing of the past! I always look forward to your reports as you are such an inspiration to an amateur, even if I will never get to your lofty heights.

Onwards to the next!

what a brilliant report, well done completing an intermediate................and jumping at 1.40... yikes.

we went out to do some unplanned SJ on Sunday and I freaked at a 1.05 jump ( stupid jockey - horse not worried !!!)

Well done, excellent completing a intermediate. They are seriuos fences. Hope you get released from prison/work soon.

We had a good dressage ( for us), rolled 2 SJ (one his fault, one mine), then had a fabulous XC, clear all the straight ways, back to his best with both our confidence levels back after Burnham. See you at Brightling...as long as it rains a bit!

blooming well done :)

Thanks!

Ah - yes, her chimp would tell her that maybe she can't jump the ditch, maybe her boss doesn't like her - she needs to control the chimp!

Hhmm, the corner certainly felt shabby!

You are far too nice!! Honestly, I am totally mediocre - I just sit on Vito and let him get on with it.

Well done, excellent completing a intermediate. They are seriuos fences. Hope you get released from prison/work soon.

No bl00dy chance. Coming back to work was a terrible idea.

Eeep, horse and jockey both ok, though?

Brilliant, that sounds great! Yes, hopefully see you at Brightling; I assume you are in the **. I will have a selection of aunts with me.
