You can, the idea is a virtual Lands End to John O'Groats - so between us we will cover the distance but not necessarily on the actual route. So the same principle as rowing across the Atlantic on rowing machines, but obviously much more fun as we will have our dogs with us and be out in the fresh air!
Also - MM - no reason I can see for it to only be HHO-ers
I wonder would the HHOers over here like to do a meet up to do the walk? I would be taking the Midget lab as Beasties hips would be wrecked after so far and Tina is past big walks like that. She is living a life of luxury
Anyhoo good effort - can I suggest someone more IT literate than me copy this thread and post it in New Lounge and Common Room - we should easily cover the mileage then!!
I can easily sort out a long walk through the woods near here if anyone wants to walk Rutland - they are dog friendly so off lead hoonng for the mutts and plenty of pubs to choose from for post walk munchies!!
Could we get little pedometers and take pics of our progress, too? I know there are waymarkers in the forest park, I could take pics of those to prove I have been dragged the required distance
You can map out your route and it will tell you how long it is
ETA - You have to register, but it's free.

Great minds! I was thinking of this site too
I reckon, that if we need to do the H&S stuff using this site would be a winner, as you can plan the route then give that to someone who will then know where you are planning to go and roughly how long you will be gone for
Right guys had talks with some mally/sibe friends up and down the country and have lots very interested in doing this
A lot of us in the East Anglian area are thinking about doing a big group one in Thetford Forest try and get something in the local press about it, which leads me to a question
* Are we having one big funraising site (i.e just giving) where we just send people to send sponsors to or will each of us have indivdual sponsor pages

Would you be on for a meet up over here to do the walk? As I think it would be nice to do in company
Don't worry, I'll bring the Midget instead of monstrous Beastie!
