The horrid ones second attempt at prelim stressage.

Good lord what a thread!

OP does not want CC... Or a 'pat on the back' so what exactly are you after?

No one has doubted the love/hard work/dedication of Laura. However, post a video like that, you are opening a can of worms. No one has claimed to be the next Zara Phillips... So far anyway :-) but most commenting are giving helpful advice. Surely we don't need videos of us keeping hands still to make our points?

Novice rider - yes fine but doing some fairly 'impressive' looking hand work that she should seek to improve. Pony moves into the bridle and then gets it snatched away or moved from him again. I stand by my comments and want to make it clear that my comments were to be supportive and constructive!

I dont think that your comments could have been taken any other way BB.

Not at all. I have followed the OPs posts and can see an improvement.

The OP clearly asked for no crit and there's now been pages and pages of crit.

I think a bit of crit is needed in this case. Whether she told us no crit was allowed or not. I tend to follow my own path and do what I am told not to do. I am a rebel you see.:p

If her next post is entitled "The Georgeous One has his 3rd attempt at prelim" I bet the video will be vastly improved.

I have some cc for you Laura. Do NOT change his name to George or refer to him as the Georgeous one. You're welcome to call him the "Gorgeous one" if you think it will help though. I don't. I think Horrid works fine, and it's a lighthearted, jokey nickname. Like dh's robknob, jt's knobber-horse and my beastly highland... That is all :)

Lolo, cracking equitation there. Just how that course was meant to be tackled :D

I thought so. I just thought my (long suffering!) horse was really struggling to find his form, so I'd show him how I wanted the fences. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough impulsion so I just took the back rail.

Thought this thread needed some levity, and a reminder to Laura that she's considerably better than quite a lot of people!

(had a bruise on my forehead for weeks afterwards. Poor horse didn't even stop. I was so stressed and nervous I simply took off a stride early. He slams on the brakes when he sees me sailing over his head, poor boy

ETA: We call Reg donkey and we call Bee a witch. It doesn't stop us from thinking Reg is pretty much the best thing to walk this earth, ever. Or that Bee is actually rather special and well-liked. It's funny. Like we give silly and rude nicknames to show deep affection in my family. If we called someone Gorgeous, you'd know w didn't like them ;)

in the same vein, how's this for stylist equitation?

I totally agree about names. You know, they used to say if you meet a horse called "Evil lazy toad" or similar you should snap it straight up as they were named ironically and it would be the best horse since sliced bread :D

I agree with JFTD about the ironic names..... My mare's works both ways. Her real name is Lady Olivia and bearing in mind she has a moustache - poos up the wall, smooshes it all over her backside and lays her head in her poo mountain every night it is a fairly ironic name. On the other hand I regularly refer to her as 'wild beast child' (safe as houses cob).
