LOL thanks! i thought it would be nice to put a face to a name ( his not mine im noone interesting ;) )

And i think the trick is not to think about it, i find i get worked up if i do, and my my flatmate was late back from London, there were liveries on the yard so if i fell off i wasnt alone so i just thought get on with it!!!!

Thanks, i was pretty relaxed at that point :)

Considering you both got off to such a bad start I think you are doing remarkably well in a short space of time. Wibbly is ok and well behaved is even better! Lots to work on of course but trust in him and relax, laugh and smile - he will love you for it.
Well done, he is lovely!

im really pleased with his progress. getting better with brushing the tickly bits, much better with the hose of doom, and also improving on taking rugs on and off. only his 2nd time ridden in an outdoor ever as well. lots of stop/starting generally not being sure but also lots of good boys and pats etc. i have a video but not sure im brave enough to post lol!!

been following this with interest - and think you are doing a FAB job ! You can tell he has a little *twinkle* in his eye, shall we say, but he just needed a bit of time.

Oh hun what a step forward. as Amymay said he looks a really nice lad. yes you look tense in photo but hey expected BUT you have taken steps forward.Ask your head do you think hes worth working with:) lovely update x

So lovely to see what he looks like - and hat's off to you for riding him after your rocky start :) He looks like he could be a real character, good luck with him!

Thanks all ! I'm not sure why we look tense must have been the pic strangely I wasn't worried at all about riding him I guess because we have built up trust from the ground . I don't think hes nasty just a worrier . Small steps just keeping it to 20 mins or so ridden every few days. Im not an appie person so I don't know what makes a good appie I just know he's well put together and the soundest horse I viewed lol !!!

Work on ground is worth so so much. my lass was frightened of own shadow being beaten before me. i spent months working on floor with her to get her to trust me 100% . it was priceless when re backed her. But i really hope you find it with this lad as he looks lovely :) pm me if want re what did with baby :) x l

Very well done OP, very well done indeed. I think you undersell yourself, after your initial shock you bounced back very quickly. I think he's in the right place tbh .. a 5 mile bolt and you are looking after him? IMO he's in a very, very good place. Total kudos to you.

I'm really just a normal average rider we are nothing special . The only saviour for him is that I own my own yard so hes practically in the garden I'm not sure what I would have done if he was in livery . In also lucky I have lovely liveries / sharers / flatmate / neighbour to support me .

Don't put yourself down, Lass. You look pretty good to me! :-)

Yep definitely focused! id say that was a fair comment. i ummehed and ahhed about adding another pic where we are both slouching around on a long rein but i look terrible so maybe not lol!

You have done so well in a short space of time. And if he is relaxed on a long rein and not threatening to bolt then that is great
