Thank you, dear HHO friends. No cat could ever replace the swaggering tyrant that was King Kevin Kat. This one looks, from her photograph, like a boring, overweight house wife who's main excitement is weekly Bingo on a Wednesday night.
Nasty little snob, aren't I?
Oh, well. I'm going to get a specialist net covering (Flap Cats) for the galley window, so that she can't get her high heels caught if she tries to flump through it. I might get one for the wheelhouse door as well.
I've only ever had male cats before, other than a dear little Abyssinian who was the willing accomplice to her co-conspiritor, The Wicked Burmese! He used to case the expensive yachts and steal yachting gloves, food, lady's knickers, and bring them back in triumph, crouching over them and growling. He came back with half a chicken once. He frightened people and no-one ever tried to stop his thievery. He lived a long and riotous life. He was called Zoos, because he reminded me of an East End wide boy - charming, but dangerous.

That is amazing. I am happy for you.

As you know, owning a cat isn't as the job describes. No, it is about being a servant. This one sounds like she has you in service from just a photo. Of course, no Kat could replace Kevin, but it sounds like this one will use you as her new servant, just as it should be.

Oh RF, that is good news you’re feeling ready to try to open the wheelhouse door to another fussy feline 🙂 She certainly wont be as entertaining in Kevin ways, but i can’t wait to hear your stories of her, even if she’s dull and boring, you’ll tell it with the humour you’re known for!
Zoos sounded like one helluva dude. I’d love to read a book series of tales of your animals 🙂
I’m sure new madam will have at least a few unique traits you’ll get to discover in time, IF she deems you worthy of course! 😁

We had a small, very soft fluffy female tortoiseshell cat turn up at random times to our house in the suburbs years ago. Lovely amber eyes, always friendly for a stroke. She’d just wander into houses for a fuss then bugger off for days/weeks…we never knew when we’d see her, where she came from. Someone in the neighbourhood owned her, as was evident from her good health and friendliness towards humans, so we were never concerned for her. Just gave her a stroke fuss when we’d find her in the house, then off she’d go.
When she had chosen her favourite fussy humans then the serious fussiness started! She’d curl up and snuggle you, purring huge loud purrs, eyes glistening with joy, oh my, i’d never met such a fussy love-ball of a cat before!
Most random visitors of neighbourhood felines were on the scrounge for food, and we’d have to shoo them off, but this little bundle of softest fur, always wanted just a huge fussy hug. We nick-named her Tarty because she also had a very red-light district swank to her gait 😂

The Wretched Wife has just messaged me to put the cat delivery day back until "sometime next week", because she is getting CC's injections done and a general health check. Very kind. Husband still being very weepy.
My friend, The Cat Broker, is cross with me for whinging about the above. She said that current owner "knows that you're a poor pensioner and haven't got the money for vet. fees". Snarl. My animals always come first, and she knows it. I'll starve before they go without. Oh, well.
Kick on.

Still crying over the loss of Kevin Kat. I found a hefty paw print in the wheelhouse today and that set me off again.
I hope CC (the inward-bound Bingo-loving personage) doesn't pick up negative vibes and feels doubly rejected.

I'm sorry you're crying, but oh my, he's really made sure you know it's all his barge.
You still wanting to have your Kevin Kat back is not the same as rejecting her, then you wouldn't be opening the door for her in the first place. Things doesn't have to be perfect from the start, she will never be Kevin Kat, but the cats before him wasn't Kevin Kat either, and I presume you're still glad you had them in your life? It was different before him, it will be different after him, it can still develop into something good.

Kevin Kat is certainly determined to hang around!
I was walking through the little car park at the top of the central pontoon and, looking at the ground, I saw a large flat pebble. I picked it up and there, perfectly formed, was a miniature cat paw print, wavy bits and all!
I wonder when His Feline Highness will see fit to go and bother mallards in Cat Heaven? I hope he doesn't freak out the Bingo cat. Apparently, she's an anxious, easily scared creature. I hope he doesn't lurk about in spirit and hiss in her ear when she's trying to go to sleep!
I've created some quiet hidey-holes for her, that she can creep in and not see or be seen by anyone she doesn't want to meet.
The Wife told me that she (Bc) rarely goes outside, so I'll be keeping her in for at least six weeks, and dousing the barge with Feliway. I'll be grooming her daily, for five minutes, is she'll tolerate it. A couple of hand strokes if she doesn't.
I miss Kevin. He went so quickly.
