Well i just carried out the milk test with Teazle that Tia told me all about (Thanks Tia). You mix a little of the mare's milk with distilled water and test it with pool strips to see what the levels of the hardness and pH are. Luckily we still have loads of test strips from last year as we have one of those above ground pools, as i'd completely forgot about it until the other day when Tia reminded me.

Teazle is below 100pm so she won't be foaling any time soon according to that (500ppm and over means that the mare will foal that night). But i will still sleep in the barn just in case. It will be very interesting to see if it works.

Think Teazle was definitely teasing me last night

As I say, I wasn't able to use mine as Cloud just foaled, but I have it on very good authority from my highly experiences WB breeders that this is absolutely fool-proof....along with worming the mare Ivermectin within 12 hours of giving birth; well I can say that they were definitely right about the worming as my foal never did scour.

I'm really not sure what is going on with Golden to be honest. Her belly does not look big any more, certainly not as noticable as it was previously. I'd say she is still pregnant but I am becoming more and more convinced that she isn't carrying twins now...thank goodness!

She has been lame for a couple of months so I'm not able to exercise her and she really isn't doing a whole load of anything so I can see her muscle going to pot now. We have our fingers crossed that once she delivers the foal, she will come sound again after shedding the extra weight.

Very unfortunate and if I'd known this could have happened to her then I wouldn't have put her in foal....too late now though and I spoke to her previous owner who had 4 foals out of her and she said she was totally sound throughout so I am hopeful that she will recover. I admit to feeling quite down about it though - she's very much my girl and is staying so if treatment is needed then we will go for it after she has foaled. Right now I'm not willing to risk having anything done - vet agrees with me thankfully.

Gosh I bet you weren't expecting that eh? You thought I'd say yes Golden is terrific LOL!!

I am really dying to see Teazles baby - make sure you have your camera out there in that tent of yours!!

Oh no, i really hope she does come sound once lil' Golden is out and without treatment. I'm sure she will, and I'm so glad that she isn't as big now, must have been very worrying. Don't you worry it will all come right come end of August

plus you'll have another little stunner.

Haha, what was one of the first things that came out of my foaling bag when Teazle teased me last night? Yep, my camera

Well now all you need is to make sure you don't sleep through it all!

Best of luck - hope it all goes smoothly for her.
