Argh! I was so excited this morning and after setting off with everyone, the horses were pretty excited so we decided to split up abit to calm them down.
This worked for a while but my usually kick-a-long horse was so hot headed that I was finding it hard to keep him walking (we didn't do any trotting as they would have all just tanked off). He's on a snaffle bit.
Everytime I got him being responsive and settled another girl who does not usually hack with would tank up behind us despite it being made quite clearly that we were only walking. This in turn would then set two of the horses off (including mine). This happened time and time again so it was suggested that those that wanted a fast ride went one way whilst the others walked back.
The two cobs and a well behaved TB set off on the walk home whilst the other girl decided to follow despite there being two others on the fast one. Again she started tanking up behind us setting them off again and again.
The girl on the other cob decided she'd had enough (not her horse it was her friend's) and wanted to get off. It was suggested that she ride the well behaved TB instead which whilst remounting - crazy girl allows her horse to reverse into the two unmounted horses. She then allowed her horse to reverse into my leg whilst on my boy - both times the horse was undisciplined.
The crazy girl's horse started pawing at the ground, rearing and reversing into all three horses. Even after positioning myself in brambles he still managed to reverse at us. In the end she said that she would head home after telling her horse that they weren't in a show so he should stop rearing (whilst laughing).
As soon as she was out of sight the three horses settled back into their normal characters.
We were all left feeling fed up that our ride hadn't gone as planned, especially considering that it was my first with new boy. The two cob riders (myself included) also have some fetching blisters.
Said crazy girl has been told several times by different people that unless she handles her horse and disciplines when required - we will not feel comfortable with her riding with us.
How else would you approach this as she clearly doesn't listen?
Hot chocolates all round! Rant over!
