Hi,
Currently I tow a trailer but I'm looking to get a small truck or van conversion. I'm just wonder if it is more expensive to have a small car + truck or jeep + trailer. What's the difference in cost? Currently this is what it cost to run my jeep + trailer:

Jeep :
Diesel - €70 to fill the tank - normal driving it will last a week or two. Towing the trailer it will take half the tank for a usual long distance round trip.
Insurance - €950 a year
Road tax - €1109 a year
Tyres - €155 each (last from 30,000 miles to 45,000 is I push them)
Servicing - between €250 - €400 - meant to be every 6,000 miles but I push it to every 10,000 miles

Trailer - serviced now an again for I forgotten how much.

Can anyone offer any light on the cost of running a small truck or van conversion please - ie cost of fuel, tax, insurance, tyres, servicing etc

Is it hard to insure a van conversion?

Would you go back to towing if you had the choice...thanks in advance

Not sure how much help this will be!
I put aside £1000 per year to service, plate, tax and insure my lorry and that more than covers it providing nothing comes up in the service/plating.
I'm not sure about the diesel part of things (ignorance is bliss!!).
I'd only go back to towing if I didn't have a company car as I wouldn't be able to afford two lots of everything!!

ive just forked out a grand to get mine through its MOT and it was all wear and tear work that needed doing. it also broke down twice in 2 weeks which cost a few hundred to fix as well.all i need to do now is replace the floor to the tune of another grand and hopefully ill have a fully functioning lorry that wont flippin break down for a good few months! i was seriously considering getting a trailer but decided to push on with the lorry as having the living in the middle of winter is handy for getting changed etc
