Went and mooched around the Royal yesterday.. VERY soggy!
The organiser people were going round yesterday desperately chucking down straw, woodchips and woodshavings everywhere, but all of them were waterlogged themselves within minutes

Mary King was supposed to be doing a jumping demo, but her horse could barely stay upright just trotting around, so she didn't actually manage to do much jumping

The hunts doing the inter-hunt relay still managed to go like lunatics though!

Cars were being towed ONTO the fields at 8.30 in the morning, so you can only imagine what it was like at the end of the day after a few torrential showers. Mary King's lorry got well and truely stuck, so they tryed towing it out with a tractor... which also got stuck, so they got a tractor to tow the tractor that was towing the lorry LMAO!
Didn't get to meet SSM as she was either busy yapping about the virtues of the CB

or was nowhere to be seen, but I did get to meet Donkey!

Have to say she is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Always admired her pics, but they really don't do her justice. Even my OH (emotionless when it comes to horses!) was quite taken by her

Just thought I'd post this in case any one was undecided about going... If your heart isn't set on going then I would stay at home, I'm really not sure how they're going to get cars on/off the grounds for the next 3 days.

I was there yesterday too - didn't get stuck in the car park but we were lucky really as we were parked right at the top of the fields!

I agree, I have no idea what they'll do about parking...by Wednesday it'll be a complete mudbath!!

We're going up Tuesday/Wednesday (staying over Tuesday night in the box) - should be interesting! Will be taking wellies, waterproofs, several changes of clothing and lots and lots of wine

Went yesterday. Never seen it like that before, it was rather bad in some places and felt really sorry for those that were showing when the heavens opened....Also noticed alot of empty spaces, take it some exhibitors didn't turn up........can't fault them really.......... The car park was terrible, just glad we went in a 4x4........ good luck to those that are showing.......... SSM is today, done her Inhand, just got her ridden at 14.00 so fingers crossed the rain stays away......

It is a real shame... Britsh Argiculture needs as much support as it can get, but this year's show will just cost the industry money rather than make any

Agree there were LOADS of spaces where traders hadn't turned up, they're probably really glad they didn't looking at the weather! I hadn't been for 5/6 years and remembered it being much bigger and busier than it was yesterday.
It's sad

Also sending good luck vibes to SSM!
