The Rubbish Winter Weather 2024/2025 Thread

Its been very dry which has been brilliant, but in between that there are horrible storms and heavy rainfall .When that happens Oxford floods. The roads are carnage, my favourite dog walking places are waist deep in water and everywhere else is slimy, slippy mud. I hate winter more and more and more every year. I'm looking to make changes so I can spend winters abroad somewhere less wet!
 
i’ve actually been thinking it’s been reasonably dry at least so far! YO has muck spread on my field, and now i want the rain to come it’s stubbornly staying away😂

i was going to make the most of the dry to go for a hack this afternoon, but car decided on the way to get her new tyres for xmas she wanted a new coil spring too so currently sat in a pub waiting for that to be replaced instead🥲
 
I think we've had more wind than I can remember. We're forecast 45-58 mph all weekend again - the windy periods seem to last a long time too. Not just windy for 5-6 hours but more like 48 hours at a time!

The wind does dry the fields, which is great, but it also makes getting out in the box a challenge !
 
We fall in to the dry but windy camp at the moment. We have also had huge amounts of rain that's caused flooding but right now the fields are ok as the wind has dried them out.

About to clip horse as he's melting in the mild temperatures.
 
I’ve actually just managed to reopen my summer track because the winds dried everything out so much last night. Not much rain forecast here as far as I’m aware. Definitely feels more bearable than last winter.
 
Feeling much more positive than I was this time last year (although don't want to jinx it so touching wood as we speak!). We're in the North, its meant to be dry for the majority of the next week although I'm sure we'll carry on being battered by the wind! We have an okay amount of mud and the neddies seem happy as larry. We fast approaching the shortest day of the year (Saturday!!) so heads up everyone!
 
Raining heavily here tonight which is a shame as it’s been so dry here - and although windy today it’s been mild too. Much dryer than this time last year anyway. We’ve got a lot more colder and windy weather on the way but as long as it stays dry I can cope.
 
We only have a bit of mud as it’s chalk down land here but the high winds keep breaking my electric fence posts and letting ponies get where they shouldn’t be!
 
Just fed up with the grey weather and the persistent wind .It's windy again here and after storm Darragh it's frightening hearing lots of banging and creaking noises which it's hard to work out where it's coming from.
Feel like we are living on our nerves waiting for more damage when we haven't finished clearing up from the last lot.
It's depressing.

I take this back. We had a deluge of rain last night and now have flooding again.

We seem to swing from one extreme to the other with rain this winter - none to downpour and flooding and then dry for a while and then more flooding.
 
It's been a much easier time so far this year but it is now snowing and really blowing which is frustrating as I wanted a quick whizz round the hill, and that will now be a bit more hardcore! Hoping it won't be too heavy or stick very much ..

For me, a cold, crisp day without rain. A little sunshine and some blue sky. The short, dull days are bad enough without high winds and heavy rain being added into the mix.

It's also so mild. I miss the winters of my childhood where every trip to school at this time of year required a hat, scarf and gloves and a thick wool duffle coat. It's too warm for any of that at the moment.

We had torrential rain and gales last weekend .
It’s been windy all week and the fields have dried off.
We have been very lucky so far horses who all clipped and working are living out and just getting a snack of hay when they come in.
