There is a lot of "winter" talk today :O(

I'm thinking of winter too :( hard not too when it feels so close - there is a definite nip in the air!

I have been looking at changing to wood pellet bedding to hopefully make mucking out a bit less labour intensive. Plus I need to send my rugs to be washed. (sigh... Should have done this at beginning of summer!!). I am actually tempted to put a fleece on tonight as weather forecast said it could be 4degrees in rural areas

Surely I'm not the only one who is glad that "summer" is nearly over?

Bring on Autumn/winter, no more flies, cooler weather for riding in, better ground conditions, less traffic on the roads (at least where I live!), no more grumpy hot and bothered horse's who really don't want to do any kind of work whatsoever, no more sweating buckets mucking out stables that feel like they've turned into a sauna!.... can you tell I'm not a fan of summer???

The evenings are drawing in now, and leaves are starting to turn. Horses have started their winter coats, K is getting a really fluffy neck already! They're also out is MW rugs tonight as temps here are dropping to 4!!! :(

Noooooooo ! It's Autumn.
I don't really think it's winter until December. We could still have some nice warm days before then, and the ground frosts haven't started yet (although it IS only 3 degrees C here right now ). Friends are having fun riding in stubble fields here, and the forecast for next week is warmer and sunny again.
My (living out) native has only JUST started changing her coat..it won't be winter for a WEE while yet. :)

Well, I kinda like autumn & winter.

I hate mud, but we've lived with that all this summer.

At least there will be no flies, I can get my cosies on, get the cosies on the horse. Back into a routine. At night, once neds done, home for a hot stew and a cuddle by the fire.

I just love the autumn hacks, not that I will be doing much due to poor ol' Madame's injury, but I can take my youngster out for walkies.

Hunter trial season, cider making, sloe picking to put in cheap gin. Plum picking, jam making, bonfires....

I love it. Bring it on :)

I LOVE winter! And autumn too. Not a fan if the endless mud obviously but hoping for a nice crisp cold winter - bright frosty mornings are brilliant! I love wrapping up warm and being at the yard. Especially love riding through the woods when the leaves are turning and falling! We are about to have a wood burner installed at home too so can't wait to be snuggled up in front of a real fire with a glass of wine when it's freezing outside.

It was chilly last night and I've just ordered my hay and taken the rugs in for washing and I've got to also get the stables scrubbed out and stock up on bedding yet. I hate winter and it feels like its fast approaching. :(

I agree with Jaycee, I love the winter as long as it's not snowing. My horse hates the flys and sweats up like crazy just standing in the field on hot days. I can't wait for it to get colder then i can't get out and ride more.

Oh announced this morning that it felt autumnal, and that he quite likes autumn.

I was like yes dear, so do I, but its still ruddy august! :D
