I know thermatex rugs have a brilliant write up for a multitude of uses but they are quite pricey. Are the cheaper versions, Thermalux, any good or is it really a get what you pay for??

Get what you pay for I think. I know the Thermatex last for years and the 'touch' quality of the fabric is completely different to the Thermalux.

My thermalux lasted longer than my thermatex on my big mare but I think that's just because it fitted better - the thermatex always slipped round on her for some reason. Only had thermatex on my others and had no problem. The Mark Todd version gets good reviews so I might try them soon.

I have a Thermalux and am really pleased with it. The fit and quality are great.

Worth chucking Shiretex in here - the cheapest on the market and made by shires. Mine still in its bag, so cannot pass comment yet!

I have a Mark todd coolex rug, which is lovely... well apart from the fact the cheapskates didn't use stainless steel and my cross surcingle fastners have gone rusty!

Mark Todd do a thermatex type rug, that IMHO is better and cheaper than a thermatex and I never thought I would say anything was better than a thermatex.

Thermatex rugs stretch very badly - my friend bought one that fitted to start with an ended up having to be taken in around the neck because it was falling right down the shoulders.

I have just bought a Thermalux because the lady claimed it wouldn't stretch the same way.
