...As we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, Nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, And in the morning, We will remember them.
Lest We Forget.Today is November 11th - Remembrance Day

Well said NP.

It's so important that we always remember, I am quite proud that my 14 year old Son talked about it this morning, and checked he had his Poppy pin badge on.

Oh NP you have given us something which puts all the morning's woes into perspective, thank you.
Let's try to have 2 minutes silence at 11am for these heroes, past and present.
R.I.P.

Me too! My 10 yr old came down proudly wearing his poppy this morning and I was choked that he had taken the time to think about it on his own x

I can't believe that Google haven't got anything featured on their home page with their logo or anything for this...yet they give the most random of other things the space here!?!

Yes, Dulce et decorum - there's nothing sweet or honerable about being blown to bits - or worse still - half surviving.

I knew several men who'd served in the First Great War and one of them would get quite hot under the collar about his local war memorial because the commemoration read "they gave their lives" - they never gave anything, he said, it was took from 'em. So as you can gather he didn't have much time for politicians.

Remember that today if you will.

Giving grateful thanks to all those who have fought so that we have freedom and can sleep in our beds at night in peace. God bless them all and those who loved them.

I wish some of our younger, spoilt generation, that waste money on drink, drugs, that abuse the older war veterans that are remaining, that have "posh" mobile phones, Ipods, laptops, (luxuries) money for fags - will cast their minds to those who have GIVEN their LIVES, so that they may live in relative calm and security in this Country.

This day is becoming more and more important as time passes. As the war Veterans pass on, to a better world (I hope!) all that will remain, are the pictures/vids and stories......

Thank you op for posting this, I've just got back home and it was the first thing that I read. I pulled over on the road at 11am and had a peaceful couple of minutes to reflect....and remember when the whole street, workplace or shopping centre stopped for the silence. It doesn't seem to happen so much these days....
