Trying to find the thread on this but they seem really ancient swear there was a more recent one so will have to start a new one

Was hacking with my friend yesterday down a track that people/ cyclists/ horses etc all use. To be met with a pair of discarded pooey white adult sized pants. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 Left lying in the middle of the track. There were bushes to the side would have thought they'd have thrown them away somewhere discreet also bins etc. The thought then turned to the fact it's a public track and removing them would have been "interesting"

Anyone else had grim/ interesting "discoveries?" Keep coming across fly tipping as well lately really annoying especially as theres a local tip nearby.

Did also get asked what breed my horse was by some lad who proceeded to open his door cue said Welsh d leaping sideways in horror, when I said he advised me he is "nearly as good looking as I am!!" Also had a driver say something about my saddle didn't catch what he said as the rest of the sentence however!

Also had strange experience of man pulled into lay by who I think I've come across twice now, same place, ask me for directions to somewhere when I've said I dont know but offered to Google the postcode for him so he can use his sat nav he said dont worry. Then was still there when I came back from my ride and waved at me. Yet when OH was walking next to me no asking for "directions" fortunately I haven't seen him for a while and likely he was harmless but made me feel a bit unnerved and glad I wasnt on foot.

You see this is why I always ride with a head cam I have come across for example, couples in cars up to you know what (6.30) in the morning keen or what ! fly tipping on a national scale, blocking the route, loads of different types of shoes etc, two tramps fast asleep, a few hung over blokes on the way home, a famous boxer out running, Jack Duckworth out walking his dog. As I am in the peak district at not that far from Manchester and media city I see quite few TV people out and about. You just never know what is round the corner :)

I think that wins 😱
Definitely not what I expected to come across. Dead man in ditch, bicycle, air rifle and beer cans. The guy was an addict and I think mixed alcohol with methodone plus exercise on the bike as he’d lost his licence, had a massive heart attack. Very sad.

I had someone come round a corner far too fast the other day, slammed the brakes on then stopped and wound the window down to tell me I should be careful as people drive very fast on that road.
Wtf?!
I had all my hi vis on as usual, and I can't avoid road work where we are now so have little to no choice but road is a slightly bendy country lane, nothing too scary and I can honestly say I think she's the fastest driver I've ever witnessed on it whilst out riding. I'm just not sure what she was getting at tbh.

The dead body is quite sad really :(

That's very weird chaps89.

Dead body is sad.

I found a dead horse once. In an out of the way little field, the still alive horse with him was quite pleased to see us... must not have been checked for a while. Turns out their owner was an old chap who was also really ill and no one had thought to check the horses. My YO at the time did some ringing around and got it sorted. It was quite sad though.

Trying to think if I've found anything nice out hacking! A pot of gold or similar would be nice!

Round us the delivery drivers stop and open packages, and then chuck the contents in the ditches, (i assume). Ive found packs of safety gloves, LPs and books when stopped to investigate.

The man dying is very sad.
I've seen a cow giving birth, a topless woman sunbathing in her garden and some burglars running across the fields towards the motorway services. We were able to see them over the hedge and directed the police who were in hot pursuit.

Not me personally but a friend also came across a suicide young lad a soldier who didn't want to be posted back to NI.very sad. The nearest I came was finding a safe with very expensive Rolex watches still in the area.

Nothing recently, as I only tend to hack out in neighbouring fields, or local forest tracks that are well used.

However, when I was a young teenager (30 ish years ago), I was out hacking and came across a couple lying in the ditch having, ehem, a rather private moment, with the man's white bum bobbing up and down going full pelt. They heard the hooves, so put a jacket over both of their heads and just carried on! I was a fairly naive teenager, and it stuck with me for ages...

Sad about the bodies :(

Nothing interesting from me. I remember as a child cantering through a field with long grass. Pony shot to the side and spooked, but didn't break the canter. Looked back and saw 2 heads pop up. Only now I am older I realise it was 2 people getting it on ha ha, what a shock for them though.

A couple fornicating in a bush Whilst I was escorting a group of riding school kids on a hack. They all thought it was amazing.

Bag of human faeces dumped in a plastic carrier bag. Orginially we assumed it was a bag of dog poo, that some disgusting person had fly tipped, until a week later when the biggest cannabis farm was raided in an underground former nuclear bunker..... Suddenly we realised, dogs don't generally use toilet roll.....

Much nicer to find was a brand new poly pad (complete with tags) that was stuffed into a bush on one of our bridleways. Advertised locally for its owner but no-one came forward so I kept it and its been very useful over the years!

Not quite the same, I used to ride in the country park an the back of Pinewood studios, so often came across film sets, Hogwarts express train, Cinderella's castle and many more.
Ahh Black Park .. was only talking about that the other day .. dont forget the James Bond film sets as well :O)

As a kid, a couple bonking in their car. I dashed back to yard and a few friends jumped on horses and we went back but they had finished so we laughed and rode off!

We have a few trailers and lorries park near my yard now to use the hacking and one lady, who had finished loading a cob in a trailer asked if she could give my horses cuddles .. I was like ... erm yeah ok ...... but then she kissed my horses face .... obviously not a horse owner, maybe a sharer? i wouldnt dream of kissing someone elses horse .. i barely look at other horses let alone touch them!

Nicola sturgeon. She was being interviewed in the run up to the referendum and we almost galloped over the top of her, she jumped in the ditch we spooked the other way and the interviewer and camera man stayed on the track. It was a deserted bridle way, we maybe shouldn't have been on the buckle on the second lap.

That’s brilliant

Used condoms tied and dangling from tree branches every Sunday morning on our hacks across the common. If you weren't careful you'd get one splat in the face. We were only 11 or 12, knew they were 'naughty' but didn't know why.

Not on a hack but...

Many years ago, before the invention of the mobile phone, I was around 9 or 10 years old and was out playing with friends when it started to get dark on a clear, late autumn evening. We decided to cross the school fields to get home quicker. I'd got left behind and they had already gone around the school building and were out of sight.

As darkness fell, quicker than I expected, I heard a strange low pitch noise. Almost like a whooshing noise. In the dark I made out the shape of two huge eyes, massive and blinking. Then two shafts of fire came shooting from the beast. I was terrified.

I turned and ran as quickly as I could, convinced I'd seen a dragon. I didn't tell anyone what I'd seen because I doubted my own recollection. Dragons don't exist, do they?

They do.

It was Chinese dragon dancers using the empty school fields to safely practice before Chinese new year celebrations in a few months time.

Oh just remembered. Riding through Devils Dyke and thinking we had ridden into a time warp but it was a film about Glencoe massacre.
