Am so over this weather! It's so cold in the evenings too. Horses doesn't know whether to start growing winter coat or moult. I even dug out 200g rug last week as shivering horse in a 50g was a sad sight... i thought it was July.... it's julyember ... christmas soon

I’m enjoying nice cool rides and less flies. Plenty of grass and happy dogs. Problem is that with rain every two or three days we’ve not made any hay.

I feel sorry not only for the farmers who are struggling after the interminable winter who can't get on with their work can't cut hay / haylege but also for everyone involved in the country shows .We are hoping to head off to the New Forest show at the end of the month and a lot of the people with stalls there selling their
goods are relying on sales at the countryside shows many small ones make most of their money selling gifts etc at shows.
If there is wet cold weather the foot fall is down even the people selling food teas coffees and beers loose money .
A sunny warm day out at a country show/ fair is joyful but wet and cold people stay away.

I'm envious of those with happy horses in this weather. Amber is summer girl and is back to her rather spicy winter mode at the moment. Which I've had more than enough of.
I hear you! Mine likes hot summer or cold winter, not the in between seasons. With the mild winter we’ve basically had nearly a year of in between and he’s been a right PITA 😆

I think it's the constant grey gloom that gets really depressing and the rain every. single. day. The rain wouldn't be quite so bad if I didn't seem to keep getting stuck out riding in torrential downpours.

Our ground is still hard and we still have bad flies so I don't feel like we're getting many positives here.

Yes my lad who's off to the Royal Welsh was fluffy and dull this morning. I'm contemplating rugging in JULY!

He's also been itching his tail this week as the damp has brought the midgets out!!
Arabi has had a turnout on most nights this summer as he has such a fine coat and hates the rain and will look like a hat rack if his too cold.

I'm still feeding quite a bit of hay as well.

It's rubbish I'm sulking 🙁

Heavy rain forecast again and the week ahead looks dismal apart from tomorrow when I am in the office all day. Mud fever is back, I am wearing my wintercoat. We've had crap summers before but coming after the horrible winter and spring, this must go down as one of the wettest years :(

I really don't mind the cooler temperatures, but the constant rain is awful.
It started raining here at 5pm yesterday and then rained continuously over night, still raining now! Over night all my water butts have refilled, so I have plenty of water for hay soaking. My horses came in last night so they didn't trash the field.

At least bad weather makes you get on with jobs under cover Trying to spring clean ( bit late I know!) .
Sorted all my rugs and kept 2 light 2 medium and ,2 heavy got rid of the rest.
I don't actually rug my 2 now as they have access to an open barn at all times but just in case!
Scrubbed out all buckets
Cleared the utility room and got rid of all dodgy wellies and boots and scrubbed the floor .
Carrying on with the feed room and kitchen upwards and onwards!!!!

Yesterday morning was glorious. Had a lovely long hack in a short sleeve polo (first time I've worn it in weeks!).

By lunchtime it was raining and hasn't stopped since. We also had fog so thick that I had to put the yard floodlights on at 8 o clock this morning.

I'd just like some blue sky, I don't mind the temperature as better for working in but do struggle to get motivated unless the sky is blue. We are seriously thinking of buying a place in Spain when we retire although then i'd probably moan about the heat 😂 😂 Ooh just checked the forecast and it's not too bad for the rest of the week 🤞

I'm also struggling with the weather.
In my corner of France the (relative) cold and the wet means MORE flies. I had to quickly clarify after moaning to a colleague that my garden had turned into a weed plantation. I've more grass than the horses can eat but can't mow it because it's constantly damp and only nice when I'm away at work (we seem to have selected the rain on a Saturday program!). I need to find the wheelbarrow that I left leaned again a hedge in February, it's been swallowed by the triffids. The 14 of July fête was held under the non-forecast rain and I'm not sure I would have gone out of the house if I hadn't promised to help with pony rides weeks ago.
We also get huge temperature variations of 15 to 18°C within the day, so it gets hot, but not sunny. Just hot, grey and humid.

Strangley mine has been ok, he's terrible in winter.

I'm not too bothered to be honest. I'm not a great sun worshipper and needed a bit of rain as my fields were rock solid and desert like.

I don't mind the temperature, but I'm fed up with the rain.

I definitely think autumn is already here, as so many seasonal fruits seem to be coming early this year. I've seen ripe blackberries around since the beginning of the month, the plums and damsons are already ripening in the local community orchard, and the apples and pears seem much further on than they should be.

My horse hasn't really lost his winter coat - he was starting to lose it a couple weeks ago when it warmed up but is now clinging onto it again - I've never known such a thick coat in the summer!
