It’s in the same group as Tidren and it’s ilk
I think Tidren is heading for the banned list because they think it’s causing an increase in fractures.
 
It’s reducing inflammation because it’s modifying the course of the disease that’s quite different

Absolutely right...hence why the beneficial effects are usually not seen until after the 2nd or 3rd injection of the initial course, ie approx 2 weeks after starting administration. Plus I think "strong" is a bit of a marketing hype!

NSAIDs work by interrupting the inflammatory pathway, and usually work within minutes to hours depending on the route of administration.
 
It’s a completely different mechanism of action to an NSAID, to compare it directly to Bute is just daft and being argumentative just for the sake of it.

That said, there is an element of truth to the FEI/racing rules wording as highlighted by popsdosh. But it’s a huge grey area and spans a wide variety of pharma/neutraceuticals and as the implementation of this by any FEI vet I’ve encountered to date means that, for now at least, Cartrophen is a non-issue
