Do you have a favourite? Very curious as my friend has two (a Welsh Sec D and a pure Arab) and says she really doesn't have a favourite. I'm pretty sure if I had two, I'd have a favourite - not that they would care haha. And to those of you with one horse/pony - would you ever have another one?

When I had two I loved them both for different reasons - the cheek and broncing nature of the one (and that he was my first ever pony! he's now 22!) and the other for his honesty, his fizz and his fun. I only have the retired one at the moment as the other went on to a new home. When we had the both they shared the favourite spot so one wasn't more favoured than the other (until it came to stable cleaning time, then the tidy one was favourite!)

However, the driving ponies I work with I do have a favourite. The one that doesn't seem to like anyone but me and is a very feisty gorgeous little mare, her pair is just as pretty if not more but she seems to love everyone the same, so I think I feel a little special with the fact that she quite obviously likes me best!

Love them the same though have a 2yo so guess I have more bond with the riding horse as had him from a baby and started Jimmy selfvas I will the 2yo in time, baby has huge personality while riding horse is a bit of a worrier so feel Ineed to protect him for the world as he trusts me, but no love them the same x

Yes, I've had one 8 years and one 3, and I have such a strong bond with the one I've had for the longer amount of time. I love my mare very much but I've always said if I HAD to sell one I'd sell her. Rosk is my first horse and my horse of a lifetime so could never sell him.

I love them both the same too but for different reasons :) both retired and I have a new pony on loan; Only had her three weeks, so I like her very much, not sure if I will ever love her especially as she won't ever be mine :(

I now have my horse, big pony and daughters pony soy horse is sort of favourite but I live them all!

I did have two horses of my win but know was the regular do a bit if everything and the other was a youngster to bring on (who is now my main horse)
Then youngster became main riding horse anther horse took it a bit slower, until he sadly was put to sleep.
I loved them both very much and didn't have a favourite, they were just different.

Dispute bring I'm a fuels with lots of other horses they became great friends, probably because they were stables next to each other and were often the first two out or last to come in so had to tolerate each other!

Although I love mine equally, I think my favourite will always be my older mare who has been in the family for years, just because we have been through so much together.
But when it comes to riding I would probably say my younger one, just because he is able to do more so have more fun. So I suppose they are both favourites, but for different reasons ..

I have 4 of my own at the moment, and I definitely have a favourite. I would move heaven or earth for the pony. The others, higher achievers and better bred and all of them wonderful and I love them so, so much it scares me ... BUT ... I can't explain my soft spot for the pony. He is just the most amazing person I have ever met!

I have three, and yes I have a favourite, but they change on a rotational basis according to who is behaving the best, who is working hardest, who is being most tractable, etc. Does that actually mean that I don't have a favourite?

I don't have a favourite - I have 5 -- some days I have a least favourite ! But to me, it's kind of like asking who is my fave child ... I love both my children in very different ways but neither one is my favourite.

I think about this often. I have one who I have been through so much with, who was in a pretty awful state when I got her and who I've watched slowly become my dream horse (not without lots of tears along the way). She I have a special bond with and while I hope I never have to be parted from any of them (I have 5) she is the one I would sacrifice just about anything to keep. Saying this, I still dont know that I love her more... They're all special to me in different ways.

I do. Alf is and has always been my special "horse of a lifetime" sort, and Spike was a bit of an add-on. I love him to bits, but I'm very glad that I have a sharer who loves him as if he was hers - so I don't feel guilty about not lavishing the same level of adoration on him! Alf gets terribly jealous of me fussing the others, so it's easier all round if I let Spikes sharer do all the cuddly stuff with him! I have a sneaky moment with him when Alf isn't looking, but if we get caught - Spike gets his bottom bitten.

Yes ! I have 6. But My favourite is Asha, my main girl. She's just amazing in every way. Plus she's quite like me, getting on a bit , and has 2 amazing kids. I adore her kids obviously ! I love them all, just her a bit more. I was riding Asha the other day and had to laugh, both our daughters where eating dinner, and both of our sons where watching us in the arena. Just brill.

What Fides said!

Yesterday I loved the 22 year old, he gave me a fabulous ride and nannied a youngster so nicely... This evening the 5 year old has taken me for an epic hack, he was obviously tired both physically and mentally but was a complete star.

I love them both, but my gelding is my horse of a lifetime and I love that pony to bits! I love my mare too as she is very special (in more ways than one) but yes, my gelding is my favourite.

I love my two main girls the same amount but for completely different reasons - the ridden one is on long term loan but I couldn't love her any more if she was my own, she is beautiful and a diva and I love her quirkiness and how hard she tries for me...my yearling was a wedding present and I have known her from birth so she is such a special girl to both my husband and I, she is opinionated and gorgeous (another diva in the making!) and never fails to make me smile :D
Hubby definitely favours the yearling - he calls my ridden girl "the foster child" and gets cross when I buy things for her and not the yearling!!

Love them all for different reasons, One is the most fantastic reliable forwards going hack, one is a 4 yr old just starting out and looks to me for guidance which I love and one is a naughty pony who looks after the children and keeps us all entertained ;) - really I should only have one but they work so well as a little heard and have such a great dynamic I could not bare to split them up.

I have 2 and yes I have a favourite.
I know I sound really pathetic but my little ex racer has completely changed my life so I owe him big time. He can be a nightmare but definitely my favourite over my lovely Warmblood who is one big softie and so easy to do.
That said, my OH favours the warmblood so don't feel as guilty as they are both well loved and cared for.

It's really nice to hear peoples replies. Some days Alfie is both my favourite and my least favourite. Like today, it's my birthday, and he stood golden and let me stick gold glitter stars all over his bum. We then had a great ride and he even did his first flying change! I was so proud. Yesterday, I sat and cried because went to go on a hack, got to the bottom of the drive and felt my confidence (or lack of...) and his spooky-ness wasn't a good combination. Ah well, I'd still do anything for my grumpy boy :) I think what really makes them all special is their personalities.
