Please direct me to a thread if there already is one as I thought there probably would be but upon looking I couldn't see one!

I just wanted to know if many have finally turned out 24/7 yet and if not when you plan to?

I've just used the last of my bedding and don't see much point in ordering more at this stage so I think we're going to put them out later this week. I'm done with the 5.00am wake up call!

Not yet. My fields are still a little too wet

Hopefully by the end of this month my mare will be out nearly all the time

She will however be bought in when very hot or the flies are bad

Also for a sleep before competitions

Mine have been out for a month or so, as soon as it dried up enough tbh. i have one that comes in overnight if it is particularly yuk but straight back out again where possible

If I could turn my horse out 24/7, I'd be doing it now as the fields are in a nice enough state and the grass is really starting to come through. My YO is also happy for us to put hay in the field if needed. Unfortunately my mare can't cope with 24/7 turnout, at least in the spring, due to her being a high lami risk :(

My lot are all still in at night.

The field is too wet and there's not a lot of grass so they will probably be in still for another month I would think.

Fingers crossed the rain holds off and the sun is out for the foreseeable!

Mine went out from Friday until Monday evening as I was away and my husband prefers them out when he is looking after them. They are back in at night as it is far too wet in their field at the moment but they were quite happy temperature wise (unrugged).

Mine will be going out in about 3 weeks (I hope) I still have loads and loads of surface water on the summer grazing so ideally want that to dry up first.

2 of the hardier girls are out 24/7 as of last month. The two boys will be going out this week if not next. The ground is dry and we have plenty of grass, we're just waiting on the nights to get a little warmer.

Ours go out as soon as there's enough grass to sustain them 24/7 as YO won't allow hay in the field as it causes fights. Normally end of April / beginning of May. I'd have them out now with hay if I could. They don't come in until December normally though so can't complain.

Mine went out (and are staying out, period) since it stopped raining basically - can't remember when exactly that was:)

They're turned out with sheep, and have restricted grazing within a ten acre field. So enough to eat, but hopefully not too much as they sheep are munching their way through the pasture.

They're in fly/sweet itch rugs during the day; lightweight "anoraks" at night.

I think ours are going out around easter weekend, or at least that's when YO said she was aiming for but it does depend on the state of the fields. Our winter ones are being rested now but the grass isn't coming through so they'll stay stabled at night while we wait.

Out for the last 5 weeks and I've got grass everywhere and that's my winter field! I need a skinny tb to pre graze it for our 3 good doers!

Mine have been [95% of the year] out 24/7 anyway :) Field is on a slight slope and only gets muddy by the gate which also happens to be baby cobs fave lying down spot and keeps it flat! Quite handy.

Mine went out when the clocks changed. I would usually have kept him in til end of April at night but the field dried up and the grass was coming through. He is better for it.

Mine are still in the winter enclosures,if it hadn't been so wet this last week they would have moved by now.Grass has shot up in the resting enclosures,if it stays dry then it's all change this weekend. Then the joy of poo picking 3 times a week.Thankfully my mahoosive muckheap got removed on Monday.:)

Mine have been out for abotu 6 weeks now - as soon as the ground dried out enough - they go out, if it's cold/ rainy they have rugs on, if the grass doesn't come through enough they have hay in the field, they are much happier wandering about and picking at what grass there is.

not yet - if it was my choice they'd be out now with a bit of hay but yo says probably end of april/beginning of may depending on the grass and when he gets the fields rolled/harrowed/fertilised

Two of mine have been out 24/7 since the clocks went forward, the other one has her first night out tonight as her field is lower lying and much wetter.

My mare still seems very hungry but my gelding seems very content, their fields are next door to one another and both seem pretty increasingly verdant. Part of the reason for turning them out 24/7 "early" was to hopefully get their weight under control a little, they have haylage in winter and very often put on weight over winter and we usually bring them in for an hour or so each night to eat haylage but it is sad to see her standing at the fence looking hopeful that she might get to stay in...

Mine have been out for about 2 weeks now. The grass has come through nicely in their spring paddock. The one in med work is still being fed twice a day & getting some Haylage because he is such a poor doer !

Ours have been out for 24/7 for approx a mnth, but are still having haylage am and pm. I hope to move them at the weekend onto fresh paddocks which have some good grass cover now.

Thank you for all your replies!

For some reason I always feel initially guilty leaving mine out as I know he enjoys coming in. Our ground has dried up nicely, especially in the past week so I left them out last night with hay in the field for the time being!
