Hattie is 15.3hh and is medium build, she's not a fine boned TB but not a heavy set hunter either! Short coupled as well so not too long in the back like a lot of TB's.
I'm 5'9" and hover around 13- 13 1/2 stone. We do dressage, showing, a bit of jumping, looooooooong hacks (like 14 mile round trip hacks to shows) - all with a side saddle and those things weigh a ton! Maybe one day we'll do Le Trec.
I've had the back lady out twice due to my own paranoia but it was a waste of money as both times they said that there wasn't really anything wrong with it and to keep doing what we are doing. I have my side saddles fitted by an excellent saddler too.
This is us at our last showing show last month so you can see that I'm not a porker and Hattie doesn't struggle with me
As long as you are not thumping around on it's back like a beginner, ride with a well fitting saddle and are mindful of your equitation (like EVERYONE should be regardless of weight), then you should be ok!
