thoughts on this horse please?

Why on earth would a 2 year old outside racing have been shod (unless corrective).

Why would it have been clipped.

Doesn't make much sense to me!
 
front legs are a bit odd - carpal varus? knees out, toes in.. wouldn't touch for broodmare. assume it has injured itself badly to be needed for companion only
 
Perhaps they thought that the best way to smarten her up for sale? I wouldn't be unduly worried about the clip but would question it if she is shod

Something about one of her forelegs doesn't look quite right to me, it's as if it's slightly bowed outwards but I am looking on a small phone screen so happy to be corrected

I love her face, she looks like she would appreciate some one to one attention
 
Looks like a sweetheart.

Wondering about the good to shoe thing, too. Could it have had corrective shoeing, or perhaps they meant trimming? She does look rather bow legged in front.
 
Her front end looks very wrong to me, it appears that she's badly bowed at the knee in the last pic, and possibly wind galls on her hind legs. I can't understand why she's been clipped out if not even backed, and more concerning, why is she already shod?

She does look very sweet though, and has a kind eye.
 
someone asked on the ad why was she clipped, the seller replied he has just rescued her and she was sweating under her rugs so he clipped her-the seller looks to be an owner/trainer in racing

ETA he is a jockey according to google
 
I just saw this filly on facebook. Apparently she was rescued two weeks ago, hence the lack of condition - and clipped as she was sweating when rugged up.

With a bit of condition and a few years to fill out she'll probably make something decent, she's got a kind eye, and they've taken pretty crap photos of her. She's the type to be snapped up by the polo lot.

I like her lots, would depend if she was just standing funny in the second picture or if she always stands like that. She looks a bit stressed, my mare does stand a bit funny when stressed out as she is fidgeting about looking everywhere and is very supple but otherwise has a square halt. Why can't she be backed in a year or 2 if she is only 2? Did she have an injury while race training or too difficult to back? What do you want her for?

I'd question why an owner/trainer would put the second pic up as an advertisement for the mare, if her legs aren't actually as bad in person and it's just a duff picture.
 
Because of course you would, wouldn't you, clip a thin two year old because it has been sweating under rugs, instead of just leaving a rug off.

I think she was clipped for exactly same reason as my unbroken four year old was clipped last year before I bought him - she was covered with ringworm and the circles showed badly in the coat. I think you can see some in the photo.

I would not touch her with those front legs, sorry :(
 
It's always hard to go off a couple of pictures, as horses can look horrendous or better than reality depending on how the camera angle is or ears back for a second etc, as we all know when we try to take a nice pic of our super star horse, only for them to stand terribly!

But only the basis of these pics she just isn't my sort. I don't like her outlook or in fact her head and if those front legs are rally like that, they simply won't stand up to any sort of work. They are simply not straight at all. Yes, bench knees. I also don't like her neck at all, I know she is still very young and could be going through ugly duckling stage, but it looks almost swan neck like. Photo not a good angle to look at back end.

Broodmare? Well, I would say no, what was the cause of those front legs (accident, disease or genetics) and what is her actual breeding, nature/temperament etc.

Sorry I can't be more positive, but this is ONLY my opinion and my opinion alone. I hope she finds herself in a good place. Depends what you (or whoever ) wants her for. A nice companion doesn't need perfect conformation for example.

Just read something about her being rescued etc. poor girl. I hope she finds someone or somewhere decent.

I don't usually comment on these posts, as I feel for the advertiser, having their adverts puller apart, so I won't comment on the horse.

What I will query is the explanation that the horse was clipped as she was sweating up under her rugs.

Am I really off beat in saying that I would have reduced the rugging arrangements as a less drastic step to clipping, in an unbacked horse???

ah, I like her but she is "my type" :), one would need more info of course but would not dismiss her just on the 2 pictures. Although I would strongly suspect ulcers due to the lack of condition and worried look (and she really looks like a thoroughbred out of racing not an unbroken 2 years old out of the field).

ETA: would not want her for breeding though!

Not a broodmare - wherever those knees came from, they will return in the future. This sweet mare is not for breeding. Whoever is selling her thus is irresponsible and only after money for old rope.

If you like her, be prepared to start corrective footwork either by trimming or farriery... but beginning heavy farriery at this age is just asking for a leaky pocket.

I actually think, otherwise she has nice features for a young tb.. at 2 you generally see what they may mature into and I'm not sure she will stay sound enough if you start work early before you sort out the bowed knees.
 
I certainly would not want to be breeding from her with those front legs although a potential mare as a carrier for embryo transfer in a year or two if you have a good competition mare you want to keep in work and have a foal from.
 
Her leg conformation is awful, neck and shoulder not great either, and if she's out of racing I would seriously doubt she's untouched (unbacked maybe but I should think at least one person has tried).
I should think she's hopping lame without shoes and the clip is covering something like ringworm....
