Early this morning I was on tractor with OH when a little silver VX220 came flying past at the speed of light- about 100 odd mph on a 60mph country road. I remember seeing him because I actually commented to OH what a complete d*ckhead he was and how he would cause an accident driving like that.
Fast forward 3hours and I had taken Oshkeypops on a hack. The same car came flying past- it was on a straight in the road and so he would have seen me 400-500yards from overtaking. he flew past me at some ungodly speed, Oshk's legs went underneath his back end as he skirted forwards and launched into the air. I simply put one arm up in some exaggerated shrug as if to say "WHY".
He obviously saw me because he turned around, sped up the other way and stopped on the opposite side of the road from me. he got out of his car, Oshk still doing the hot coals dance, and said "You got a f*cking problem or something, Love?"
to which I replied "Yes I have, I think you were driving far too fast and could have caused an accident if I had fallen off of my horse."
to which he then replied "Oh f*ck off you silly little bitch, who do you think you are to talk to me like that, you lot are all the same, why don't you f*ck off ?"
So I said "Well I hope when you do cause an accident you harm no one but yourself, it would be a shame for innocent people to be killed by your ignorance"
he then walked up to me, grabbed Oshk's rein, to which he skirted sideways and smacked his fetlock on the curb, and said "Listen you little f*cking bitch, next time I see you I'll try my best to knock you off that f*cking nag, you jumped up little tart, I will drive how the f*ck I like, and I don't care what you say."

I waited until he had let go of my horse, turned him about and trotted the 100 or so yards up the road to the gates of one of our fields at the far side of the farm. I wasn't meant to ride through it as it was all wheat with small margin, but I felt really shaken up and was quite scared the man would actually drive at me, my hands and legs were so wibbly.
I feel like I'm in the wrong for challenging his speed in some way, as I provoked him with the shrugging my shoulders and making a point of it- but then again that is NOT a safe speed to drive on such a road- especially not as his car is really low to the ground- if he had been in a dip in the road, a tractor could have pulled out, not seeing him, and at that speed he would have been a complete write off.
I have his registration number and was wondering whether I could report him for A) Driving too fast or B) for threatening me. Not sure whether it was technically threatening, but it wasn't nice

i would report it!! just so they have it on record, they probably wont do anything for a first offence, but if they have it on record and he does it to someone else then they'll take the complaint really seriously!!

Maybe someone like that should get in trouble for careless driving! and lose they're licence. As you said he'll probably hurt an inncoent person!!

Just call your local station, they'll log it!

Yes, definitely report him. He was driving 'without due care and attention'.

You obviously can't prove what speed he was doing.

He did threaten you, he said that next time he saw you he would try to knock you off your horse.

He's an ignorant barsteward who obviouls has his head up his a**e.

I really feel for you that you had to experience this. I would be shaking like a leaf and thinking twice about reporting him - but he needs a warning if nothing else from the police

I don't see the harm in trying - worst case scenario the police can't do anything to help; best case, he gets caught and given a massive fine or something! What a horrible person to have treated you like that!

Yes report him - his behaviour is agreesive and unacceptable - Do you know make, model and number plate of car - as that would be helpful for police.

You poor thing, have a stiff drink! You can report him for his abusive behaviour and threats yes, and it may well be worth doing from the point of it being logged on record incase (god forbid) he carries out any of those threats if you ever meet him again. You were not in the wrong and even if you had been his reaction is unacceptable behaviour. You need to report it. ((((hugs)))) and some for Oshk ((((hugs))).

What a d**khead. I hope he misjudges a corner soon and has a one to one with a tree or wall. Send him to Wales, our dodgy roads will soon let natural selection deal with him.

On a serious note, I would report him if you have his number plate. There is no excuse for behaving or talking to anyone like that. Sooner or later he is going to kill or injure someone.

I'd report the bastard if you have the registration, god I'm so mad just reading what happened to you, and how DARE he touch your horse!!! what an absolute sh...t, I would report him to the police for speeding and threatening me and my horse.
Hope you're both ok now

Yes - would definitely report the arrogant poor excuse for a man. Why should any innocent person or animal suffer from his selfish behaviour? Deserves to be locked up. There are too many people like this around!

I think, and someone may correct me, but digging into the depths of my memory, due to his action it could be counted as Actual Bodily Harm. A policeman once asked me if I wanted to press charges (boring story) and I was surprised when he told me what I could do, and my incident wasn't nearly as scary as yours!

Hugs hunny.

I bet the police will follow it up tbh.

I was blue lighted on a country road after the car behind reported me for drinking at the wheel.

They thought I was drunk (I wasn't of course) as I had been drinking from a bottle (at a level crossing incidentally)

I was stopped breathalysed etc as I could have been a hazard on the road, and it sounds like this guy is going to cause a serious accident.

Yes I would report him for speeding and threatening behaviour

Hope you have stopped shaking now. Hows is Oshks fetlock? I think I would add that to the complaint to the police as by grabbing at the reins he caused O to get hurt

Poor you, what a horrible experience!!! I would definitely report him, you may find he has a record or, as other posters have said, they can start one about him.

<<<hugs>>> sweet tea and biscuits for you!!!

Not sure about ABH mrs M you could be right, certainly assult though. Assult can be verbal and the fact he restrained your horse would also come under assult I believe if you wanted to take it this far.

It was threatening and aggressive and you were terribly frightened and shaking for hours (which is why you didn't report him immediately.)!

Report him to police soonest. Without an independent witness they won't charge him, but they WILL talk to him (and he might talk to THEM like that in which case they WILL arrest the little sh*t!)

You can report him for threatening/harrasing behaviour - it is under the Public Order Act and he can be arrested and interviewed. You can also report him for careless/dangerous driving.

It is not true to say that a first complaint won't be investigated. Police are under an obligation to investigate reports of crime. If they think that you have not provided enough information or are unsure a crime has been committed then they won't arrest. But if you have all the details then I would report it.

Remember police have a lot of targets to meet and if you report something and it does not get dealt with, it goes on the record as an unsolved crime which is bad for their figures.

Phone the police switch board and say that you have been threatened and insist that it gets investigated.

Bl00dy bast*rd - hope you are ok. Sending hugs

report both offences, and if he is often in the area, lie in wait in a gateway and roll a tractor out in front of him!! A farmer freind did this as he got fed up of the idiots using the lane as a speedway, gave one a real scare and hasn't been back since!

Definately report him. I had a similar incident a few years ago - some kid in an astra. He came back past a second time and I noticed he had a local garages overalls on. Called them up and he was in a customers car!! Friends horse spooked when the car flew past on a narrow lane beeping horn. Ended up the kid had to pay vets fees, was only allowed to wash the cars, and had to write letter of applogy (sp) to me, my mate and customer. Also noted on his employment record.

Your incident sound much worse. You MUST report it.

Yes, without a doubt report it! At least then they will have it on record and if they get anymore complaints they should def do something about it!

hope both you and horse are ok!

Definately report it! His behaviour was threatening and unacceptable.

What an arrogant *insert anything you like here!*

Hope you are both ok.

Sister and I once reported a speeding driver who upset our 2 very sensible ride & drive horses out on a hack. We were on a no-through road which led to a bridleway, when the idiot, who we guessed was going home from the pub for his Sunday dinner, shot through loose gravel, ShireX jumped all over the road (most unusual), driver stopped until horse was moved to the side of the road and then did it all again. As we were also wearing the most visible clothing you could buy at the time, we decided to report him. Police came to interview us and asked to see our jackets, agreed that they were very visible. We later read in the local paper that he had been fined for careless driving.
We do think that perhaps we got a good response from the police, as it was not long after the wife of a police officer, who kept her horse at livery locally, had been knocked off her horse by joyriders in a stolen car. She was quite seriously injured and the horse had to be destroyed at the scene.

I would certainly report these 2 incidents.
