Report him asap.
CCJ had a nasty incident in the box the other week, where we live the lanes are frequently only 8' wide with few passing places, and she pulled in twice but no-one would overtake. Some two miles on a chap swerved in front of the box, slammed his brakes on causing her to do an emergency stop. He like your man shouted abuse and was really threatening. She rang the Police who came out, checked the details with a witness and went after him...he got a real telling off.
Some people just shouldn't be allowed to drive, yesterday I was in the car on the same road when a man on a red motorbike came round the corner at a speed faster than I have ever seen on a road in my life. His knee scraped the floor as he leant over for the bend and he came 4' onto my side, luckily there was a hedge I could drive into flipping my mirror back or he would have hit me. There was no time to see his plate and I really felt very shaken as it was a near thing.
If we don't report prats they will continue to risk other's lives, so do ring up now and let your idiot get his come uppance. If I knew who mine was I would!
Yes, you can and should report it. Although the police will not prosecute unless there is corroborative evidence it will be an interest to them in case you weren't the only one that reported his driving that day. It will also link in if he gets reported again. However, just one other point to add...when you report it, make sure you ask whether the local beat officer will take an interest in speaking/dealing with him. Ask that he/she update you. If he is a regular user of that section of road and lives 'locally' it will (should) be an interest to the beat officer. The driver was driving without due care and attention and committed a public order offence. Make sure you stress how the matter made you feel, not only at the time, but at present. Don't doubt yourself or play down what a happened. And finally, don't let it deter you from riding the same stretch of road. If you don't already do so, consider riding with your mobile phone. You would've had a very strong case for dialling 999. Best of luck, and let us know how you got on.
omg not only does he drive like an idiot but also then DARES to touch YOUR horse!
i would report the exact incident and say you felt VERY threatened and want him cautioned (at least!)
I really feel for you, and dont really know what to say. I would certainly report him to the police.
The only other thing I can say is people like this do invariably end up killing themselves - as you say tractor pulling out of gate with a dip in the road - the rest is history really.
The fact that he has made contact with you and your horse means that he can be charged with assault and/or threatenting behaviour.
Go to your local Police Station and report the incident and ask them for an incident number. Keep the incident number in a safe place so that if you have further problems with him you can refer back to it.
I would suspect that he lives locally if you have met him twice in a short period of time which means that at the very least the police will pay him a visit and also put a tag on the registration number of his vehicle and driving licence. This means that if he is involved in any more incidents that they can refer back to this incident.
Please report him. Something similar happened to me a while ago and I know the Police paid a visit and issued a warning. No more formal action could be taken as the only witness was my sister (and so not independent) but I got great comfort from knowing he was spoken to.
Please don't let him get away with this behaviour - what a bully.
I would report him, me and my mate reported a similar incident we had a couple of years ago, not that they could do anything it seemed, but its best to get it logged without a doubt
Please report it, I've had a couple of near misses lately on our country lanes with idiots driving to fast round blind bends. I haven't had the presence of mind to get reg numbers so didn't think it worth reporting but hopefully as you have a number the police will follow it up for you. The way he behaved was totally unacceptable and you should not be subjected to that sort of thing, please report it Rosie, you sound like quite a strong person but it has shaken you up, imagine if it had been someone with less about them, being verbally and possibly physically attacked by a moron in a fast car!!
Definitely report, seeing him twice in one day going too fast on rural road and you have a witness to the first one
It is not acceptable for him to threaten you
Hopefully Police will give him a talking to--doubt they can do any more than that.
Others may also have reported him for dangerous driving and the next horse may not be as steady as yours.
Doreport it - not the same, but I had a guy threaten me at worka few years ago when the company I was working for was going broke (actually he threw a fax machine at me!). The Police were really nice & reassuring. It never got to court but knowing they understood how frightened I had been & he had been spoken to was a great comfort
Aww, poor you, and poor horse... you did very well, and sounded like you handled everything, even though it must have been blooming terrifying... Definitely report, the worst that will happen is nothing...
<<<hugs>>>
Report him for both definitely! Next time he speeds past a horse like that it may really cause an accident especially if the horse is more flighty than even your horse seemed to be! The police should have a word with him.
Do make sure you report it (my post earlier was actually my OH who (ahem) knows what he's talking about.... I hope you're ok, really scary thing to happen, feel for you.. x
Report him. Stress that he was very aggressive and that you were very seriously fearful that he was going to harm you AT THAT TIME, and pursue a charge of assault.
Report him. Next time it might be a kid on a pony he threatens, not someone who can stand up for themselves. Who knows, maybe he's not insured or taxed and shouldn't be on the roads in the first place.
Ps i suspect his macho behaviour means he has a seriously small male anatomy!

lets just hope he crashes his car into a tree and dies a horrible death

Im sorry but i think this is abit extreme. Having known someone who did crash into a tree and die a horrible death i find this comment uncalled for.
Rosie report to the police but don't expect charges to be brought. The decision on charging is no longer in the hands of the Police but the Crown Prosecution Service and they might not see it through to a prosecution. Eitherway he needs speeking to regarding his behaviour

Totally agree with you Stinkbomb.
Rosie, I would speak to the police. Do you have a local beat officer you could speak to? I think I would take advice from them as to what is best to do.
I shouldn't worry about him having an accident and getting hurt, it's always an innocent person/s that gets badly injured and killed, dick heads like that always seem to walk away unscathed leaving a greiving family to mop up the peices.
