When I learnt to ride in the dark old days it was on a Jefferies General Purpose saddle.
Apart from the odd Jumping saddle if I was competing I have always ridden in a GP.
So yesterday I had a saddle fitter come to fit Vardi out for his first proper big boys saddle. She brought a variety of makes and both Dressage and GP.
I got on in the GP rode him in walk and trot. Shortened the strirups tried again but somehow he felt unbalanced and not right he was also running on a bit in trot.
Tried the Dressage and wow I suddenly had a balanced horse that came on the bit and when I asked for trot it was smooth and quiet.
I can only put it dowm to the fact that my position is so much better in the Dressage saddle, my legs are long and wrap round him I sit deeper and straighter.
I really did not believe there would be such a difference. Doubtless to say I have purchased the Dressage version.
One question anyone hack out in theirs?
