She had her second lot of Adequan and Hyonate yesterday. Vet told me to now treat her as normal and do everything with her I was doing before her hocks were treated last Friday.

So, today I met a friend for a hack. We've met several times before, but this is the first meeting since she'd had the Osteopath and the hock treatments.

First thing my friend noticed was how Patches was picking up and placing down her hind feet properly. Normally she seems to shuffle and slide them down along the floor. She was also very forward going and really striding out. Felt sorry for her horse as he couldn't keep up at times, which is not like Patches at all! There were only about 4 or 5 times I heard her click one of her hind feet down in walk. That's BRILLIANT going. We were out for nearly 3 1/2 hours and Patches was still full of it when I returned. No head snatching at the reins constantly (apart from to munch grass at times...baaad Patches).

All in all, I'm very impressed. It's two weeks since she was shod and there is no scuffing on her toes or shoes at all! That's unheard of!

Oh I am SO made up for you it is untrue

Can I come up for a 3 and a half hour hack please, sounds like pure bliss!

LOL. I don't hack off road much though! Our hacking is nice enough though as the lanes are pretty quiet. Such a huge horsey community that we find the drivers around here are 99% very sympathetic to horses on the road.

There's a new farm ride opening on March 10th that's 8 miles long and I reckon about 4 miles from me. Can't decide if it's too far to expect her to walk to it, go around and come back. All off road there with optional jumps and a water complex! Sounds a blast!

As for Patches, I am SOOOOO pleased for her. She must be feeling so much better. It's quite touching riding this "new horse".

More Adequan next week. The week after she's getting more Adequan but is also going for an assessment at the vet's yard. (cue...new hair cut by then

I am proud of her!! Thrilled for her too.

Only wish I'd gotten an Osteo out to her sooner. So far, I think it's her who's made the most difference to her.

LIGHTBULB MOMENT!!!!

I'm only kidding really. Well, I mean yes he is dishy, but I would rather keep the money in my pocket. I just felt I needed to get to the bottom of Patches strange movement. She's given so much to me in terms of confidence, I wanted to re-pay her.

I recommend Osteo's to everyone! Never underestimate the impact a good back person can have on your horse!

So its your fault - you stole my hack today!!!

Ah well, couldn't happen to someone more deserving! I had a lovely ride planned today, sun was shining, gorgeous day...was all tacked up and just changed from wellies into jod boots, when Ivy galloped into the yard... the little sh!t took out the electric fencing and escaped.

I couldn't catch her and ended up covered in mud sploshing about in joddy boots and in the end had to take off Asti's tack and let her loose unrugged - I did tell her not to roll as she's fully clipped - while I went and got her rug, and a bucket of feed to lure the polar bear back in the field.

Of course Asti did roll so had to be rugged over wet mud...

Cue one hot and VERY cross GM going home without a nice sunny hack, swearing reprisals and muttering curses aimed at a fluffy evil youngster...

I am soooo pleased you had a good ride though, and I hope its the first of many tours of the countryside!!!!! D'you want the spotty one once she's broken in?

*mutters evilly* if she survives THAT long!!!

Thanks J.

Baaad Spotty one! I'm sure she was just trying to remind you that she's a big girl now who can go for hacks! Perhaps she thought you'd forgotten her?

Isn't it so disappointing when you're all geared up for something and it goes Pete Tong! I'd have been muttering expletives too I think.

Oh well, there's always tomorrow!

There will be Ivy-cide tomorrow if I miss out! The Orange one really needs the excercise, I've got my last dressage test of the series next Sunday, then a 30k endurance the week after...

I'm really pleased Patches is coming right though, you have been through so much trying to get her right, I'm chuffed its paying off. And nothing wrong with having a hunky vet on hand to help, they are the best kind... Have been there and snogged one of them before... oooh he was nice, all talland dark and handsome...

Luckily he changed practices a while after (not my fault though), can't see OH being too pleased with the competition!!!!

Great news - now you will be out doing your endurance rides and le trek in no time.

Wish I had the time to go out for 3 1/2 hours - most I can normally do is 1 1/2 hours - Mr C is going like a train at the moment so I wish I could do longer.
