3rd in child handler (may have been more highly placed if she hadn't used his head to make him walk backwards oops!). She was the youngest in the class by several years but her leading etc was spot on, he was very very good.

I have put her stirrups down two holes since then (thanks JFTD!) plus new saddle and rising trot is getting much better :)

Awww!! How sweet and what a lovely, lovely pony! You must be mega chuffed with them both! And what a lovely rider can't believe she's only 4! Going to be a superstar :)

OMG your mini is just ADORABLE! never mind the Royal baby!! They was definitely robbed - should have been firsts all round. Just love that one of her hugging the pony!! :-D

ETA that is mini person I mean, not mini pony, though he is cute too!
 
Aww he is lovely, can I ask where you got the saddle from? Is it a pad saddle? Does it have extended girth straps like a cub saddle, (would it fit a 12hh lol)
 
I look forward to your Titch and daughter updates, well done to all. So cute and all that pink. What a collection of rosettes.

They have come on well as a pair in building a partnership in such a short time, it seems only a few weeks ago you were posting his first photos and your daughter was on a leading rein. They have both learnt so much so quickly.

I think they are really under rated, I am amazed at his attitude and stamina, he absolutely loves jumping and will hack forever!

Thanks. She was very pleased with all her rosettes and I think she thinks she won every class lol.

Yes I think so, there were more in hand classes than I expected and it was very slow, so she got a bit fed up as she wanted to ride him but I suppose she has to learn shows can be very slow anyway!

Thanks, that's a very nice thing to say. Mostly I just feel like a complete nag! She always wants to ride but rising trot has been so difficult she hasn't wanted to do it so I've had to cajole, push and encourage her strongly to keep trying, I think it is probably very very hard on him in particular but she is now sitting for two and rising for one so we are very close to getting it!

Yes it does, you would just need a longer girth. Its a Zoe Snape saddle, she does larger sizes, and actually smaller sizes but we got that one so it should last my daughter for a bit longer than the smaller size, its all soft so it doesn't matter that its big on him. She also does non slip girths which we have but being a thoroughbred Shetland, all girths rub his armpits so he has to have a fleece girth cover on them. Initially her riding regressed as it has no pommel like the cub but after a few sessions she was fine and it is much comfier and softer for her and him I reckon, the cub saddle was horrible, wish I'd started with one of these.

Thanks very much what a lovely thing to say. We got him in unbacked January, so they have both come on really quickly now you mention it.

What a brave little girl. She could have ridden under the bellies of most of the other competitors. If there was a Shetland marketing board your daughter would be a wonderful cover girl for it. What a happy beautiful pair. Well done you.
Now I need to have a word with daughter so she can get on and produce a grandchild and will need to X fingers that he/ she has the horse loving gene.

I actually had a (pregnant) woman eyeing him up at the show! She has a section A for her nieces who will outgrow it around the same time we out grow him so we are keeping in touch (especially as I have a 13.1 needing a rider as well!)

Well I hope this section A is a chestnut skewbald too, it just wouldn't match if not...!!

They are absolutely adorable. I love how she gets involved and gets him ready, not like most kids her age who are just plonked on. They have both done so so well since the start of the year, they're a great pair.

Lol I don't know, Winnie is quite freakish, not sure we'd find a match for her easily.
