Sadly lost Roger in May. He was 31 and starting to struggle getting up. Looked an absolute picture. We'd known him since he was 4 and had been with us since he was 17. Ruled the roost completely and caused merry hell if he didn't get things done the way he wanted them!

It’s been a vile year, I shall be glad to see the back of it.

I lost the last of my beloved original Greyhound Gang, Amy, with vestibular disease at the beginning of the year ? I’d had her many years and totally adored her, she was the perfect dog in every way. It really was the end of an era...

Then horrifically and totally unexpectedly last week I lost my gorgeous big brindle boy Ace at only 6 years old with osteosarcoma ? I had adopted him when he had only been out of racing for 2 weeks and he had changed in the 17 months that I’d had him to become a happy, relaxed playful, tolerant and loving dog - he deserved so much more. I still can’t believe he has gone ???

I really miss my boy. He had such a funny, special character. 2014 - 2020.

I’m not very good at looking at the horse pages on here now sadly but your boy was definitely my HHO favourite, it is so very sad that he is gone. I know you made the right choice for him, what a wonderful owner you are xx

I lost my beautiful boy in September. Found a tumour in may and lost him in early September at the age of 12. He was a diamond and I miss him everyday.

A lovely thread to remember our lost ones. A reminder that even when the world is bleak these animals bring so much love.

I'm so sorry for your loss x
Similar thing here, our spaniel Poll came back from walk having eaten a wild rabit or something. Few days later she started having siezures then never really woke up after last one so vet had to put her down. Vet thinks most likely poison, as also other dogs in our area have died recently in similar circumstances. poll.jpg

I've lost too many this year. An unborn 9 month gestation foal, Jeff, Flint, Sky, Ginger cat and 2 chickens.

The mare aborted at 9 months, her 2nd pregnancy and her 2nd abortion (6 years apart) so she clearly isn't designed to have foals so she will never be put in foal again. Annoyingly she is a cracking wee pony and would make an awesome mum but I cant risk her life for the sake of a foal. This one was a chestnut filly and the only foal from The Wee Coloured Job.

Jeff was ok in the morning, like he had been heavily sedated in the evening so I of course got the vet who thought with everything it was acute liver failure - and then offered me £300 worth of drugs to keep him alive for another 12-24 hours. Money grabbing idiots. So of course I said no and put him down there and then. We had been through hell and high water over 16 years - racing and retirement. Jeff owed me nothing and I owed him the world.

Flint was 30yo, he choked and the vets couldn't shift it. He was truly a pony of a lifetime for many people.

Sky had retired from racing and had gone to live up north with a wonderful family. Sadly his retirement only lasted 6 months. He became ill overnight, the vet came out to him as it looked like colic but wasn't colic, gave him a light dose of sedation and some painkillers whilst he went off to do blood tests and Sky dropped down dead half an hour later. Nothing ever showed up in the bloods.

Ginger cat was 22yo so she had really good innings.

The chickens - one was old, the other just popped off over night for no apparent reason.

Along with 2 humans. 2020 can really go and do one.

I had heard from racing friends down here that you had lost Jeff, but hadn't realised Sky had passed too. So sorry for your truly horrible year x

I'm so sorry for everyone's losses. This year really has been hard for a lot of people.

Denzel. Just a few of my favourites out of literally hundreds that I haven't touched yet because it's still too much. Tricky and trying at times but always affectionate and my horse of a lifetime, even if it was short lived at only 7 years old.
