OP I'm glad you had a lovely time and that your daughter did too. I don't think there is anything wrong with taking a child to something like Olympia if you have a plan if they kick off! Olympia, in my opinion, is a family show, its magical and is very much aimed at an audience with children in it.

I don't have children, but am quite happy to see well behaved children at events and shows - it helps them learn how to behave, how can they if they are never taken anywhere??

As for screaming kids on a plane, I'm a stewardess, I've just landed from a ten hour flight from India with about eleven babies under 18 months on. I have to tell you the 150+ adults gave us a heck of a lot more hassle and noise!

Come on people! Stop being such humbugs.
 
Interpretation is ,of course, individual and on these sort of emotive subjects, can also be affected by what camp you're in;)
Anyway, all's well that ends well,so,again, Merry Christmas everyone (whatever you're drinking/not drinking..;))
