I am sure I have told before how Toby has pulled down the bird table to get to the coconut shell that was filled with fat and seed and how he eats his dinner so fast he is retching at the same time (its gross) - well today he surpassed himself!

Every morning after doing the horses I feed the cat, feed the dogs and this morning I chucked out some scraps into the chicken pen. I went in to make a cup of tea, came out and there's Toby in the chicken pen, he'd polished up all the scraps. For Gods Sake he had just within minutes finished his breakfast - he must have jumped the four ft wire enclosure to get in there.

Is there no end to his greediness?

labs are just mingers when it comes to their stomach, and most of them have cast iron constitutions. I caught my lab on the beach once eating the remains of a seal carcass. the smell was disgusting. He would eat anything and as much of it as possible. Never did him any harm, he lived til he was 16.
Loved him to bits

My labs are on constant 'hoover patrol' too, although they do keep my floors clean!

Once my chocie lab stole some food from my chickens coupe, ...... unfortunately for her she ended up at the vets and having her tummy pumped out and on a drip, as she had stolen a bunch of grapes, she ate the whole bunch, vine thing and all.

Grapes/raisins are no no no ...... for dogs - I'm now more careful what I put out for my chickens!

Defiantly all the same then..... My choccie lab is a standing joke at our vets as she was out one day tubing a shetland for colic and my boy drank her whole bucket of liquid parrafin!!!
It was not pleasent when it represented at the other end about an hour later......

GinaB I can believe you. I have a non greedy lab.
He's never been fussed about food - was hard when he was a pup and training. Often doesn't finish his food even when it's his favourite....sardines

I have three of them - all have the same vile habits. The most disgusting things seem attractive to them and the muck heap is a buffet ! Think the worst was a rotting animal head that one of them scavenged and brought back to the house.

Never seen those before - clever invention but at £36 just for the medium sized bowl......hmmm, have to think about that one!

Couple of hefty rocks instead perhaps?

My greyhounds would have done that too, and then polished off the hens for good luck. My hound dog now, he'll eat anything not nailed down or set in concrete, scaling fences to get at it though? No chance.
