Todays contribution fgom Dragon Driving

Seller is the same person who, last week, took a ten week old foal off its mum and sold mum. No one is sure what happened to foal but he claims to have given it away. :(

Idiot. Poor horse.

Sad thing is that the pony looks like she could be lovely, lets hope she gets an experienced home who can correct the damage this moron is doing.

Be glad you don't. Pity buyers create the problem. Every time someone "saves" a horse like this, the seller has made a profit and is therefore motivated to do it all over again.

I'd rather see these people sent to an island with the worlds worst prisoners and left there than be encouraged to carry on doing this because of people still buying them.

That's not a dig btw TBG, just saying.

I have a full hackney mare and although she has a very high head carriage with an almost ewe neck (having been to breed shows this is how they all seem to go) she does NOT go with her chin on her chest like that. If the poor pony is even half as opinionated as mine she won't stand for that for long and good on her. I suspect she is going like that because even with a seriously heavy rider on they are extremely strong and are quite capable of pulling you on their neck and bogging off I suspect it takes a rider this size (and a pretty strong bit to hold her). I am not condoning this in any way just worried about the poor ponies future as she will need an experienced rider they are not usually suitable for kids I know it's the wrong thing to do but I just want to go and save her.

The seller claims this is a natural head carriage for this pony...

I'm guessing he told you this via private enquiry? Only ask as it doesn't state this in the advert.

I know many folks locally who've bought from Chris and he comes very highly recommended around here. Never heard a bad story yet. The photo isn't clear enough to see whether the pony is on a tight rein or just head shaking either.

Sorry but a bad photo doesn't convince me. And his reputation as a fantastic, honest dealer is known far and wide in the Midlands. I don't know the guy, I just wouldn't be so quick to judge when I've only heard (lots of) good things about him from local buyers.

Why the heck are his feet over the horses shoulders?? He looks like he is bracing himself against that horse's mouth too :( Doesn't look good... From that pic I wouldn't touch with a bargepole I'm afraid.

Ok am I being a bit stupid here, why are these people getting away with this, isn't there somebody looking into how these animals are being treated? Shouldn't the RSPCA being getting involved here?? There are more adverts on this site of animal cruelty than not, why isn't the site being closed down and more to the point why are people buying from this site and if they aren't where are all these poor horses ending up?? There seems to be so much ignorance among the advertisers who obviously think they not doing anything wrong or they wouldn't be so open about it. It just beggers believe that they have such little understanding of horses especially from a culture that prides itself on its equine knowledge!!

I assume you have spoken to the seller? As all it says in the ad is:
"Hackney x mare, 4 years old, 13.2hh. Just broken, very good movement.
Ready to bring on. Call for more info."

So do tell me you have spoken to the seller and are not making slanderous comments. . .

How is it slanderous? Nothing awful was said :confused3: isn't this guy the son of that Ruth woman who had the 'pony in my living room' publicity stunt in the Daily Fail?

If the head carriage is natural (yeah, right!) then why does the lump on that poor pony feel the need to lean back and obviously exert pressure on her mouth?
