Today's election....

I'm guessing the sun will still rise everyday. I've already done my postal vote and it wasn't conservative.....

Most important thing is that people get off their butts and vote - we live in a democracy - be grateful.

yes well said.. , my heart says UKIP my head conservative
onething I know labour have got us in a mess which they have done a good job of hiding so far, lib dems well what a rabble, Non of them seem to sing from the same hymm sheet, its going to get tough whoever gets in , just hope they have the guts to do the right thing so we dont end up like the greeks....

I am extremely tempted to ride down to our polling station, it's not far. Do you think the ladies that congregate outside and ask who you're voting for would hold my pony while I went in to vote? (Actually probably a bad plan as they've loads of tasty shrubs outside by the door)

I think it'll be a hung parliament myself. Not good for the exchange rate or my business.

Do you think we could find enough rope if it is and Gordon is clinging on with whats left of his fingernails!!!!?????
seriously I hope it isnt it wont be good for fuel prices or interest rates and forget buying stuff from dollar based economys ouch......

I'm more concerned about what will happen if the Tories DO get in...

They are exactly the same as they were under Mrs Thatcher. There will be massive cuts to public services, millions more unemployed and we will go back into recession.
Rubbish .......... we are in a bad recession now with debt higher than the greeks gordon has been wasting and borrowing money over the last 13 years and worse hiding the true scale of things... the torys if they get in have like every other time have inherited a mess to sort out... sadly cameron isnt thatcher so it remains to be seen if he has the guts to do whats needed .... go to hell gordon you wrecked our country you two faced turd.....

So... when private industry is struggling, making redundancies and closing plants, so not taking on new staff... what would you suggest we do with the millions of unemployed that Cameron's cuts of the NHS and public sector will create? They will go on Jobseekeer's Allowance and be state supported... further adding to the debt.

Cameron would not have supported the measures Brown put into place at the start of the recession and whenever he is interviewed, he cannot tell you what he would have done. Because he wouldn't have known what to do.

He will not look after the ordinary working people. He will continue to find ways to create tax breaks for millionaires and the rest of us will pay for it.

I hate this thread, people just end up arguing. Can everyone please be open minded to other opinions, its the whole point- vote for who you want!
Thank god there will be something else on the telly and news now, election stuff was getting really boring! :D

Whoever gets in is going to have to savagely cut costs. Its just that none of them dare admit it. The pain will be the same either way, we cant keep on borrowing more and more for ever. At some stage its got to be paid back.

In my view, whoever wins is going to be hated within a few weeks. Amazing that they all want the job so much :D

No one is arguing, just putting their own points of view across. Life would be very dull if we all agreed with each other all of the time! I am perfectly open minded to other's opinions and have actually been swayed from being a potential Tory voter to elsewhere by listening to other's opinions and realised that I might not always be right...!!

TBH I think it's all of the sun Tony Blair is getting whilst on his extended holidays and doing touring lectures in sunnier climes that has aged him!! ;P

He did look as though he had had an accident with the St Tropez bottle when he was on TV recently didnt he :D

I had a real issue deciding who to vote for I couldnt find anyone with a ME manifesto.
I Wanted :-
Free prescriptions for any woman as soon as she hits the Menopause

Fully Paid Sick leave if your horse is ill or injured

Paid time off for Farrier visits

Cats or Dogs as therapy on the National Health

Tax Credits for all Gardeners to encourage people to keep the planet green

Free Ice Cream if we have two consecutive days where temperatures are above 27 degrees C.

Muck Heap Grants

Chocolate on the National health if your really fed up

my list is endless but the final one is of course

Grant aided Goldfish watching. As sitting by a Garden Pond with a cup of Tea watching Goldfish in a pond is so relaxing it probably reduces risk of heart disease so there should be a grant as long as you can prove you will have Goldfish and watch them in a relaxed manner on a regular basis

And finally of course Tea that should be available free to everyone!!

I'll be voting right after I've done the horses :)
The polling stations are open until 10pm aren't they?

I really hope it's not a hung Parliament though, that would be worse than Brown getting back in, and if the Libs get in... well, I think we'd all be better off emigrating :o

Flibble gets my vote!
Seriously, I think whoever gets in, the same issues will be argued over and fuel duty will still be ridiculously high and interest rates will go up and down as they have always done. I agree that we should all use our vote, though.

Ditto this :D Politics is a scary subject - I don't think I'm brave enough! :p xx

According to the BBC website it is perfectly acceptable to hack to your polling station and the officials can hold your horse whilst you vote!

Are any of them really worth it though - if you look at any manifesto there are good and bad on each. Hard to choose which is the best of a bad bunch :(

I think politicians get around £65,000 a year, I think it has just gone up or is going. When you are earning that little is obvious that expenses need to be paid, because it is soooo little you can't even afford to feed your family on it. :D

When private industy is stuggling you dont increase taxes, you dont borrow more than your income you reduce spending on the non produtive public sector and get the country to pay its way so companies take on staff who pay taxes and buy things creating sustanable jobs, or you could do a gordon brown borrow borrow and borrow print money and pretend it wont end in a mess which is why cameron diden't agree with gordons plan and he didnt say what he would have done as it isnt a very palitable message!! Torys Do look after the Working people and as for tax breaks for Millionairs as you put it.. who will want create wealth if they get hammered with tax ???, no labour isnt for working people its for the lazy the feckless and the plain daft

Hmm, labour have done this and left the country in a big "brown" mess in my eyes. I have never been taxed so hard in my life, and I am not a millionaire! I recall 13 years ago Labour telling us that they would not raise taxes, that didn't last! What about all the hospitals labour had planned to close just before they were made to announce an election!

To get this country back on track is going to make any party the enemy of the state. This is the second time labour has got us into this state and the tories were blammed for having to deal with the last mess BUT they did pay the countries debt off. Now we owe more money than we did after the second world war!! Tories had my vote.

And they get a summer holiday!

:D

Do they, though? really? I mean, it seems to me to be a pretty much 24/7 job, if you aren't in westminster then your constituents expect to have access to you - almost like being on call, permanently. Can't imagine that there is much real down time to do anything other than work. I wouldn't do it for the world.

Well parliment does have a summer holiday, its a stressful job and I suppose you will always get a bit of abuse of people no matter what party you are representing.
