Are anyone else's fields flooded! My pony is so sad, as he loves going out in the field. Even his stable is being flooded, all his bedding keeps getting wet, so annoying! His frogs were red and puffy because of the wet, but he seems to be getting better now. Trying to get his stable moved.
Now I miss the drought!

Anyone else's flooded?

Oh you have all my sympathy! Thankfully our yard is the top of a hill, so no flooding and we are fairly mud free. But my old chap is suffering from severe thrush from the wet and is currently having to be kept in to allow me to treat and keep them dry.

However, the main problem we have is that the road to the yard keeps getting flooded ... thank the lord for four wheel drives!

Roll on the summer, I am sick to death of soaking wet rugs, soaking wet dogs and soaking wet me!!!!

I'm thinking of planting rice in my fields!! All mine have stayed in this morning, although I do try to turn them out for at least a couple of hours a day. But the rain is so heavy here that they are more than happy to have a duvet day!! When I arrived this morning, during a particularly heavy downpour, the drain was blocked and the water was upto the doors of the two end stables that contain my hay and straw. Luckily, I got there in time to unblock it!! The little stream at the bottom of the field is a raging torrent, and the lane to my yard is a river. Never seen the fields so wet and I've had my yard for 22 years!!

I love that your horses are having a "duvet day" ... and good luck with the rice harvest!! LOL!!

We have to keep our upper lips stiffened in true British fashion. Chin up, chaps!

I'm totally sick of it now. The fields are messy, although the horses seem quite happy to go out. This incessant rain just makes everything so damn difficult - every time I step outside the house I just end up wet and muddy.

Is it ever going to stop?!

It's all getting a bit gruesome now :( not helped by my sister in South Africa telling me it's only 24 there today

Been raining here since got up this morning, but horses in anyway due to hunt in the area. Decided to put mine and friend's horse out for a couple of hours early while I mucked out etc. Wished I hadn't, they were covered in mud, took me ages to clean them up a bit, plus my coat got covered in mud too!

It's getting me down now. I keep waking up, expecting to see the sun...but alas, more cloud more rain :(

Poor Ned looks miserable too, I miss seeing him flat out in the long grass sunbathing.

Just got back from my yard, and brought them all in. They are all seriously fed up. As soon as they saw me turn up, they were all pushing at the gate to get in.

We have had our yard for 6 years now, and never had it so bad.

we even have puddles at the brow of the hill:(

Going to have to keep them in for a bit now to give the fields a chance to recover.

ilovejake - get your parents to check your gutters, that could be a reason for the water getting in. ( its what causes ours )

Good grief ! I thought my fields were bad, poor ponies

I'm just about to go back out in it to get the boy in, and today we have along with rain- WIND! :( deep joy. I've never seen so much rain, thank god for stables! Luckily ours are dry so nice for them when they come in. Roll on a dry spring and summer!!

Thankfully it's not all that bad. They've actually got some nice grass in the next field along (which they have access to) but they do insist on hanging about in the mud and not by the hedges/field shelter/nice grass!!

Mine did the same, stood by the gate in the mud looking thoroughly depressed.
Rest of the fields have grass, but its full of surface water, so they stand by the gate and ask to come in:(

heres hoping it stops soon, or i'm building an ark.
