Can someone be too tall for a horse/pony? Unless their feet are on the floor or there's a specific issue for the tasks they are performing (e.g. looking "wrong" for showing, or feet hitting the poles when jumping) I'm confused by the concept.
I can see that a tall person on a short animal might feel uncomfortable or unbalanced or lacking anything in front of them etc, and feel themselves that they'd prefer a taller animal for their own comfort, but not that someone looking on can say that they are too tall.
Too heavy is a thing, which you clearly aren't.
I love your contact! Contact goals ?you look fine....try being 5'7 on 13hh!

Not too tall, but is the saddle right for you? Difficult to tell from those pics.
I hadn’t ridden in a few months so I was making a few mistakes, he’s also pretty young. I’ve been riding him this past week and everything is going a lot better than they wereYou're fine op
Maybe he looks unhappy because he's an rs pony being ridden by someone probably not very experienced? It's hard to tell from just a snapshot admittedly.
Op looks very young and a new rider.
It wasn’t his saddle, I went to try him and his owner put the wrong saddle on. It’s ok now thoughYep, the only likely issue here is saddle, it's up over his shoulder, there is a chance it fits neither of you.
The saddle was a bad fit, the owner got his saddle mixed up. I was trying him^You're neither too tall or too heavy.
Why is the horse looking so unhappy?
Soon. I was trying him then. They ended up having a horse camp on the 23rd and I went so I had more time to try him! The saddle ended up being the wrong one, his owner got them mixed up and it wasn’t a good fit for me either. Is he your horse, OP?
I do agree.. he was started at 2. I only want a happy hacker with a little schooling at the moment though ( maybe once a week) so he should be fineHe shouldn't really be doing horse camp at 3 years old i wouldn't be riding too much at all at the moment his too young.
I’d dig a little deeper re: being started at two. They are so weak and unbalanced at that age, it could be detrimental. I totally realise that racehorses are started young, but look at the high incidence of skeletal problems that ensue. Even if you only want the horse in light work, it might already have been pushed.I do agree.. he was started at 2.
