Can someone be too tall for a horse/pony? Unless their feet are on the floor or there's a specific issue for the tasks they are performing (e.g. looking "wrong" for showing, or feet hitting the poles when jumping) I'm confused by the concept.
I can see that a tall person on a short animal might feel uncomfortable or unbalanced or lacking anything in front of them etc, and feel themselves that they'd prefer a taller animal for their own comfort, but not that someone looking on can say that they are too tall.

Sometimes if you're super tall and jumping you can throw yourself and the hore out of balance.. but I don't think there are any biological or medical issues with it.

You are absolutely fine on him. We all have different proportions and look different on different horses. I agree that I'm not even convinced that "too" tall is a relevant concept. Weight yes, but proportion, I really couldn't get too excited about.

You look absolutely fine to me! It’s one of my “ things” too about myself and the horses I ride, having ridden 16.2 and most recently a 14.2 and I’m almost 5’6”. People have assured me I look great on the 14.2 and he ticks my boxes so I’m happy!

Do people mean you are going to outgrow him quickly? Because if you are as young as you look then I think they might be right that you are going to look very tall on him in the not too distant future, and if he is a horse you want to compete on, especially jumping, you might be better off with a bigger model.
But if you like him, and he does the job you want him to do, you are way off being too heavy for him, so your height is irrelevant if you can ride in balance.

Maybe he looks unhappy because he's an rs pony being ridden by someone probably not very experienced? It's hard to tell from just a snapshot admittedly.

Mmm I was going to say that too, it looks like you've got a very long thigh and it may be that the saddle isn't helping you as much as it could. But you don't look too tall by any means.

No, not too tall. However i would say the saddle does not fit him well its massive on him, its also not placed on him correctly and it doesn't fit you either.

Yep, the only likely issue here is saddle, it's up over his shoulder, there is a chance it fits neither of you.

I hadn’t ridden in a few months so I was making a few mistakes, he’s also pretty young. I’ve been riding him this past week and everything is going a lot better than they were

It wasn’t his saddle, I went to try him and his owner put the wrong saddle on. It’s ok now though

Soon. I was trying him then. They ended up having a horse camp on the 23rd and I went so I had more time to try him! The saddle ended up being the wrong one, his owner got them mixed up and it wasn’t a good fit for me either.
And age wise as everyone has mentioned I’m 15 172 cm and he is a 3 year old 161 cm ( so about 15.3 hh) Dutch warmblood

He shouldn't really be doing horse camp at 3 years old i wouldn't be riding too much at all at the moment his too young.

I do agree.. he was started at 2. I only want a happy hacker with a little schooling at the moment though ( maybe once a week) so he should be fine

I’d dig a little deeper re: being started at two. They are so weak and unbalanced at that age, it could be detrimental. I totally realise that racehorses are started young, but look at the high incidence of skeletal problems that ensue. Even if you only want the horse in light work, it might already have been pushed.
