Ok, wimpy here. I have ensured that my car will very easily tow my trailer and horse with a lot to spare. So, car - Jeep, 3.7L, max towing weight 3.3 tonnes, trailer = Bateson Deaville - 950 (or 850) kg, horse = mw ISH 16.2 so @ 650-700kg. However, my yard is up a majorily steep hill (try 500 feet above the town), so I have never felt the urge to tow 2 large horses back up the hill and have a self imposed limit of my horse + upto 15.2. I have towed 2 big horses on the flat (motorway) with absolutely no problem. Am I being overcautious? because I cannot find anywhere which would help work out what capacity you could consider when having to negotiate steep hills! (this is what comes from having a friend who really did have her trailer pulled backwards when towing with a car..)
