No one seem to have mentioned when they’re in season ?

my friends mare turns into some fire breathing dragon when she’s in season, EVERYTHING is out to eat her, she’s scared of her own shadow and just gets really silly but not dangerous - somewhat like a freshly backed youngster!

My mare was never ready any different when in season, apart from she wouldn’t come in from the field. I had to spend hours trying to convince her to come in, she found herself hilarious cantering around me in circles. Soon as she was no longer in season, she came to call again!

They’re funny things mares but I wouldn’t ever have anything else.

Can't tell when Beast is in season apart from (also) silly cantering about in the field rather than being caught. She may be more spooky when in season too but haven't noted a clear correlation. Could never ever tell with my old girl.

The Appy is exactly the same when she is in season except she expects all the boys to pay her a LOT of attention (sniff my bottom, indignant squeal, how DARE YOU!). If you keep her out of bottom sniffing distance then she's no bother

The microcob showed no interest in boys (she'd had 2 foals by 7 so knows what trouble they lead to) until a small, grey fat gelding turned up on the yard. She quite literally swooned...and then spent a week squirting and presenting her bottom to him.

Both live with a gelding who tends to wander off to a safe corner of the field when they are being a bit too girlie.

Granny horse was also very uninterested in having another foal... until the palomino warmblood showed up! It was quite embarrassing because both my girls were all over him. He was very handsome... but a bit dim. Obviously they both liked them like that! Poor MrT gets no interest in that way from The Beast at all.
