Anyone know what's going on there. It's been operating for years and I'd assumed it was a charity but doesn't appear to be. A recent post on fb suggests that there's been a dead pony there for 6 days and that the RSPCA have visited but horses/ponies/other animals still in a shocking state. Hope it's not another rescue turned neglect issue 😭.

It doesn't seem good there. I was chatting to the lady who posted on facebook about it, she lives near me and we are too far away to do anything physically.
It's been reported time and time again, I suggested she posted on here to see if anyone had any ideas.
Here's the face book post, click through the photos, lots of animals being neglected by the looks of it including, dogs, ponies, cows and so on

If there are cattle have they also reported to DEFRA and APHA?

Go to local MP, Minister for rural affairs, local paper/s. Not sure who else but have those avenues been tried? Maybe local dog warden? Council may also act if someone complains about the rubbish from the pov of health issue/unsightly and vermin concern
If there's a fox in the house I presume it's a wild one? Can you get local wildlife charities on board with pushing for action from authorities+ publicity?

Yesterday I advised the lady who posted it on facebook and seems to have evidence of the cruelty there to go to local papers, tv station and local counsellor. Not sure what else one could do, if defra and rspca wont act what chance have these animals got?
Tell her to start with the council.

Why aren't DEFRA or the RSPCA interested?

I've messaged the council on fb, if it does get in the press I'd hate them to be able to say that nobody reported it to them. Also contacted whw as I'm a member. The 2 very thin horses don't look emaciated enough yet for the RSPCA and there does appear to be some grass in the fields so I would doubt it meets their criteria for action. I was worried the dead pony had got stuck or entangled in something rather than starved and there seems to be so many other hazards for them - awful.

Well done. Let us know if you get a response.

It's time all animal rescues were compulsory licenced and inspected. There was a woman in our village who was an animal collector. Eventually the RSPCA stepped in. Horses dogs hens sheep pigs. She claimed and I think belived that she was rescuing them and helping them when in reality they became welfare cases.

NEWC members are on site inspected every year. They have to have the correct standards for the membership and paperwork must be kept up to date.

That looks to be similar to what is going on here. It looks superficially like a charity with the website and everything but actually isn't. I came across it ages ago (about 20 years!) when I was looking for a project and they had horses to loan, but all too small for me. They behave like a charity constantly asking for money and calling themselves a rescue but don't have any official status.

The daughter has now posted that her mother is ill and had a serious of small strokes and is struggling to look after all these animals. Unfortunately she still appears to be asking only for more money and not for anyone to rehome any of the animals which would be a much better option for them if their owner is too sick to care for them and may get worse. It also appears that the site has been quarantined due to an outbreak of bird flu.
