Finally sold my boy and happy with where he was going. As he was going to a friend, I agreed to organise the transport to the UK. All going well, arranged transport and he was collected. was very worried about him cos the only time he was in a lorry before was when I bought him and he was delivered to me. the idiots had loaded him onto a lorry and transported him over 100 miles with no partitions on country roads. He was only a baby and was terrified when he got to me. So they collected him and the agreement was door to door. He was supposed to arrive on monday or tuesday depending on the ferries. I didn't hear anything by tuesday so decided to leave it till wed morning and call my friend to see if he had arrived. I came in to a mail from her saying that the transporters had called them on the tuesday and had refused to deliver the horse door to door! they would only deliver him to servises off the motorway and that it would be at 4am! My friend got up at 3, drove with the trailer to the services and did the swap over. the driver refused to budge on the price (it was cash on delivery) and basically she had the option of pay what he wanted or not get the horse! She didn't want any more stress on my poor boy so she paid it and got him home and settled. His condition has dropped and it looks like they didn't feed him from when they collected him (6 days).
i will never use that transport company again even though they came highly recommended. My boy is getting back to himself and will be none the worst for the experience but it shouldn't have happened. The agreement was door to door, he wasnt rushing to meet the ferry back or anything like that. He just couldn't be bothered leaving the motorway and doing the delivery.
Maybe i am just being over sensitive here but just be warned about transport companies!
