I was putting my travel boots in my car to take them home to be washed last night and thought, jeez these have nearly had it. They are Mark Todd ones I have had for 6 years on a horse who travels quite a bit, so I am really pleased with how they've lasted! (And if someone hadn't gone through a brief phase of tantruming to be unloaded every time we arrived somewhere, they would probably still be going strong

).

So I am inclined to go for Mark Todds again, I think - unless anyone can recommend anything similar that is just as good? I saw some Shires ones on eBay that are cheaper, and the seller claims that they have all the Mark Todd features.

I like the fact the Mark Todds have 3 big velcro straps rather than loads of fiddly ones, and I like their robustness.

Ideas/recommendations? Thanks!

Mine all wear mark Todd boots, we worked out the original set have done approx 35000 miles!!! - they are a bit trashed now though but they will be replaced with exactly the same ones again!!! If they fit and you like them.....!!

I really like the Amigo Travel Boots, I have them on both of mine and find that they fit really well. They are not really stiff either so fit to the leg better and also have the big Velcro fastenings rather then lots of little ones.

woof wear boots have thick padding , more protection . they also have a tought panel at the back of the foot so that pepsi's knack for ripping them hasnt worked ! a few big velcro straps which are easier than loads of little ones . lasted me years

I have Mark Todd boots that must be 10 years old and are used 2/3 times a week, still in good nick and very useable. I also have some Shires ones which are hardly used despite being 4 years old. If only taking one horse I will use the Mark Todd ones every time as they are much better. I find the Shires ones tend to slip and I dont like the fleecy lining at all. My Shires ones will be heading for Ebay as soon as I purchase another set of Mark Todd ones!

Another Bucas fan. My last horse tried his heart out to wreck them but they are still going strong on my new mare. They are about four years old so far and still plenty of life in them.

i have premier equine ones, which are identical imo to the mark todd ones, plus cheaper

good protection, scuff plates, wash well, and fit well

I have the amigo ones, purely because I won them

I won them in 2006 and they are going strong - they are cob size (i think) and fit my 16.2!!

I once saw a set of soft travel boots which I really want, at the front they have a strap for above the knee and so the protection covers the whole knee - I just cant find them

they are like polypad type ones!

Sounds like the bucas ones only_me. They are reviewed in this months Eventing magazine. I would love a pair, though they are v expensive.

I have wetherbeeta ones for Flo and they are fine, though not over thick so might be trashed by a bad traveller.
