The video is not of the horse that hit the car.
My traddie boy came from this area, Dublin..... I was told that he'd "pulled a cart"......... OK, so, yeah, right. If this is the way horses are treated out there it does explain an awful lot, my poor horse, if this is the sort of background he had.
I too am sickened after seeing that article on the Daily Mail. Poor horse, I sincerely hope justice prevails and those responsible are found. I really hope your horse did not have this type of start in life, its certainly not a good start but fingers crossed he didnt as the majority are not like that. If he did, then Im glad he has gone to a good home with you.
It might sound a bit naive but local Gardai/police will have a fair idea who they are dealing with. Information from another forum says sulkey training on the N8 Rathcormac to Fermoy section of the Cork to Dublin road is a regular occurrence. The death of this horse occurred in Cork recently, not Dublin. The youtube video showing the two sulkeys racing is also in Cork, near Mallow in 2012. I am glad to say 5 men were jailed earlier this year for their part in that infamous sulkey race. Which proves that the law is trying to catch those responsible. That video was just unbelievable, blatant disrespect for the law, for other road users at that early hour of the morning as commuters were making their way to work. Local radio stations were inundated with outraged callers condemning this behavour, so thankfully the majority are appalled and against this activity which is carried out by a minority. This race went on for quite some time on the busy Cork-Limerick road, I know some view the police car as acting irresponsibly in trying to stop the sulkey, but they were fast running out of options. Cars were travelling 4 abreast across a two lane road at rush hour I can only assume they were trying to prevent innocent people being killed in a pileup. There are various versions of that video on youtube and on one, at the very end a very large group of men all connected with the race are pictured. You would need a huge Garda /Police presence for that crowd and unfortunately they knew it and ran amok.
The perpetrators of this awfull incident all drove vehicles following this road race and thefore using their video surveylance systems combined with their automatic number plate recognition system the police have it in their power to identify each of the vehicles that was involved with and following the race a nd identify the drivers and passangers. The vehicles should simply be confinscated and the occupants of the vehicles fined.
