I travel my mare in a trailer, she has skinny fine legs so getting boots to fit can be an issue. Until now I have always travelled her in brushing boots over reach boots and knee boots but the last couple of times we have been out she has scuffed the hair on the point of her hock. I'm not sure how, she is generally a pretty good traveller but obviously I want to protect her now before she hurts herself.

I would like suggestions for booting options that cover the hock and aren't going to slip, restrict movement or upset her.

I could brush up my bandaging skills and bandage with tall pads but this isn't very practical for hunting when I am likely to have a Fidgety excited horse in a muddy field.

Any good recommendations? The travel boots I have don't stay in place at all!

I like travelling boots with loads of straps rather than the usual 3. I find they are easier to mould to the leg well. I also don't like ones with hard scuff guards at the bottom as they just seem to irritate horses :)

I've been travelling my sec D in over reach boots and turnout boots all round, could add hock boots if that was the way you wanted to go. I've swapped her into some multi-strapped travelling boots now that she's got used to the idea though, as it's just so much quicker :o

I wondered about hock boots but they just seem very hard and restrictive. I don't want to either irritate her or cause any restriction.

What travel boots do you have MP? I have amigo ones and they don't fit at all. If I could find some nice snug fitting ones for skinny legs I would give them a try.

I've got some like AFB linked for Kira, just cos I got them cheap on eBay and I knew they'd be soft enough to not irritate her :o

Millie's are very old and I bought them in a clearance sale but they're like the rhino ones, I think mine actually have more straps. Mine are fleece lined. https://www.equinesuperstore.co.uk/travel-boots.html

Woof used to make some, maybe look for some of those, like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Woof-Wear-Travel-Boots/172799830624?hash=item283bac2a60:g:AqIAAOSw9fNZffHk

I have the old polly products travel boots which fit great though the velcro is getting very frayed :(

I can get my TB mares stiffer wetherbeeta boots to fit the pony by doing them up tighter though....

Woof Wear make plain neoprene hock boots - would be enough to protect from scuffs

I was also going to suggest these I do have a really old pair of weatherbeeta travel boots that have fleece in the inside and they are quite soft and stay put, not sure if they still make them like that as they are quite old now.

I use these Shires ones, I have tried the ones with the hard bottoms but I now put over reach boots on as well.
