Treeless Saddles

I have a trekker saddle which is not conventional to look at at all but is a kind of English ish western saddle. I love the fit, I have back issues and its armchair comfy for me. It has an adjustable gullet system which changes by a simple twist so you can change to suit width of my ever changing mare. I now have a mare the strides out after having a lazy kick along, I think the freedom of her shoulder is really noticeable, she was a nightmare to fit in a conventional saddle as she's big shouldered and ever changing. So far it seems really good for both of us, about 5 weeks in. It ain't pretty and some will baulk at the look but for me comfort for us both was upper most.

Here is a link to the unofficial Solution saddles page - it is where I recently sourced my Ansur Konclusion (sp?) jump saddle. Worth a look. I agree high withered horses may not be suited by all treeless, but the simple ansur and solution originals (energist -not the smarts so much) seems to fit and can be padded to fit most very wide and round horses, which is what my mare is.

Thank you :)

I have tried the old Ansur and a newer Solution. I found that my horse did not like the newer one as they have made the gullet narrower. The older wider gulleted one is still made as a Solution (can't remember which model), but the newer ones are quite narrow.

I would be more than happy to buy a Solution as long as it was a wide gullet. I then use the Solution pads to pad up. I use mine to fit any new horse or client's horse. I use it as a diagnostic tool to see if the horse's saddle is causing an issue, as it can be quite revealing when the horse learns to stretch and finds that there is no pointy bit pressing in his back.

For my own horse I actually prefer a well made treed saddle tho...

Don't know if "Solution" do it, but some treeless saddle makers offer a "trial" period - so mebbe worth researching this?

I bought my Libra saddle on E-bay, cheap and cheerful (relatively); and it was a cheap way of trying treeless; plus I have a spare saddle if needed. Someone who rides a lot treeless advised me that IF buying on e-bay, to be careful to choose a saddle that is a well known make, so that it will re-sell well.
