Tri-Tec - Is it as good as they say?

Having had horses with sweetitch for years, I've tried EVERYTHING, including tritec. The only thing that works at all for midges is Biteback. Tritec is very harsh, very chemical-y and not particularly effective against midges. Biteback is environmentally inert and I've never had a horse react to it. A couple of my horses had bad skin burns and peeling with the tritec.
I actually remembered yesterday that I had a newish pot of Biteback Silver Relief, so I'm just slathering that on the underbits for now.

Silver relief is to treat sore, rubbed skin. The best thing to repel the culliocides midge is a combination of benzyl benzoate and neem oil, both of which are ingredients in the Biteback Neem Supreme spray.

I found tri-tec more effective than some but still not effective enough to be any use. I feel like I'm just throwing money away on it all.

I thought it was quite good but as i had to wash down my horse after every ride in hot weather, i reckon i was washing it all off !

That was my next question! Which product to buy first to try out.
Thanks Cortez
Nb, quoted the wrong post to anyone else wondering the same! It’s above!

Aye, just using it as a stop gap/barrier to protect the udders for the moment.

Patch test with anything you are going to use, whatever it is, thats pretty basic.

Completely agree (even though I didn't do it!) but the surprise was that it was the second application that brought my Joe up in a lump, not the first, so do be careful of you're going to use an unlicensed pour on.

Where do you apply it? Presumably avoid under saddle? Middle of the rump?

How bad was Joe’s lump? Just a temporary swelling that went away?

They say to put it in 2 spots on the spine behind the wither. The swelling wasn't much, just fluid and it went in a day and he is an exceptional house for inflammatory responses. I put it on two other horses at the same time with no problems.

thanks I’ve bought some and an applicator to try.

Maybe I’ll patch test with 1ml behind tail first.

I put some on a few weeks ago. stupid question alert. How do you stop it just running off the horse. 10ml is more liquid than I thought. My own syringe didnt fit in the bottle as top too long and narrow.

I did buy and applicator but I completely failed to get it to work?? https://www.chelfordfarmsupplies.co.uk/spotinor-spot-on-fly-control-for-cattle-sheep-applicator

Next application due next weekend. Any suggestions.

You just put it on a couple of places. It can run down, it still soaks into the skin. If it's running off, pour more slowly over a bigger spot.
