Just wondered how many people are turning their horses out every day?

I usually turn mine out before I leave for work and then get them in the pitch black when I get home at about 6.30. I felt awful yesterday because it was p*ssing with rain and they were cold. So left them in today and its been beautiful all day. Can never quite get it right!! I feel guilty for leaving them in despite them having both been out for 1 1/2 hrs exercising this morning.

Am I the only one who feels awful leaving them in?
 
It's really very rarely that ours stay in. They did the other Sunday after excercising - the rain was torrential, and it just seemed pointless.

I turn mine and one other out at around 6.30 in the morning and get them in at about 4.15. I'm always amazed at how they would really be out (regardless of the weather) than stuck in a lovely warm stable with loads of hay.
 
Mine gets turned out at 7am and back in about 4ish just as it starts to get dark.. However if its pouring with rain will only put her out for a few hours as its not fair and not much shelter in field.
 
Mine gets turned at 7am and brought in about 5/5.30pm. Very rarely leave in unless it's really bad then they'll stay in. They have thick warm rugs on and in a field with lots of shelter.
 
Mine are out at 5.30 an don't come back in until 6.30pm. However they are very rarely standing at the gate waiting!

I only leave them in if it's forecast to be cold, windy and wet all day. Tbh they are much happier out.
 
My 2 are out with rugs but have free access to their stables - however they very rarey come in only if it is very heavy rain. They are fed concentrate twice a day and have ad lib haylage in the stables.
 
Ours are out from around 8/9am until around 4pm. They are always keen to come in though this time of year. We turn out whatever the weather is doing, with modern rugs there really is no need for them not to go out for at least part of the day even if it is chucking it down or snowing.
 
Chex is out everyday, regardless of weather. The only time he hasn't gone out is when the snow was so deep he couldn't physically get to the field! They aren't going to melt in the rain

Ours have the easy life at the mo. There out 24/7 but the gates open into the yard and their stables, with ab lib haylage!!! The older horses that are use to being pampered (when clipped and in full work) are rarely in, but my baby 3yo comes into bed every night and lies down!! Bless him!
 
Where I am now they are very rarely in, they sometimes come in early or go out late if the weather is really foul, but generally out at 8 and in when it gets dark at about 4.
 
Mine stays out as much as possible. He has been out on holiday since mid October, but when comes in will be thrown out at 7am and brought in at 6pm approx. He gets thrown out regardless of weather.
 
Mine is still out 24/7 long may it last! He will only come in once it rains and it stops soaking away as on clay.
 
Merlin is out 24/7 in a good rug.... yes he is caked in mud from his ears to the top of his neck cover and from the knees down and no I dont really feel the need to get on board, but I am happy that he out in all weathers enjoying his break.

He is the happiest and possibly the healthiest he has been in ages...... downside probably the unfittest though!!
 
Mine goes out every day come rain, hail or snow from 6am to 6pm. But he has access to his field stable at all times with hay in it!
 
Mine go out at 8am and come in around 6.30-7pm, they are all fine and dandy, but are ready when I get up there......... Mine tend to stay in if it is constant rain or snowing, they don't mind the odd day in..........
 
I turn mine out at 6am in the morning before I go to work & they come in at about 6.30pm. They are lovely and warm (good rugs), they have a huge round haylage bale in their field, as far as mine are concerned, I will always opt to have them out than in. They're never standing at the gate waiting to come in but if they were - I'd bring them in. The weather hasn't been bad enough where I am to warrant keeping them in - yet.
 
Actually - I've changed my mind about the whole turning out thing.

My GREY horse is now BROWN - despite having a wonderful rug on he has mud EVERYWHERE!!!!

From now on he will be caged, regardless of the weather!

Mine go out at 6am and back in at 6pm-ish. They're never cold as they have good rugs but they're usually stood at the gate waiting to come back in from about 4.30pm. Totally DIY yard though so unfortunately they have to wait for me to get there after work.
 
I turn mine out about 7.30am and he's brought inwhen it gets dark. He's out every day whatever the weather altho last year on the yard they had to stay in for a few days as the fields were really waterlogged. he's much happier out
 
mine are always out all day, every day (all night too, most of them!)
the only time i keep them in is if they're injured or on box rest. i hate to see horses standing in stables, it is so unnatural for them. i know they often just stand around in fields looking bored, but at least they have other options when they're out!
 
During the week mine go out at 6.30am in Wugs, and in about 6.30pm. Sometimes they are waiting at the gate, if not they do thunder towards me when I call, but I don't believe they would rather stay in all day. The only down side is they aren't allowed haylage in the field. If they start to lose weight I will get the Yard to bring them in late afternoon to eat some haylage, but am going to avoid that as long as possible.
 
My 2 are out just after 7 and come back in around 4, they are out as long as possible, but i hate getting horses in in the dark so they come in just before dark.

They are out everyday regardless of weather, only time i would keep a horse in 24/7 is if injured/needing box rest etc.
 
Linx goes out between 6 & 7am and comes in between 6 & 7pm depending on if i leave work late/if i go straight to yard.

he's quite happy, sometimes he may be waiting by the gate but thtas not often & if weather is horrid i may ask my dad to bring him in at lunch time as linx isnt too much of an 'outdoor-baby' (he was always stabled before i got him)
 
My boy gets t/o about 7.30am then as the clocks have changed he gets brought in about 3.30-4pm as I get down about 5.30pm, and he didnt like being last out in the dark!

Every now and again he stays in a day on the weekend if were competing, going for our lesson, etc
