My wee welsh sec A mare has had to have a huge chunk of her hoof wall removed today as she was hopping lame, mud had tracked and compacted about a good inch and a half up the wall, vet took away a good chunk of wall and dug as much of the stones and mud out, and we have tubbed her hoof and poulticed it. He has a feeling it is abscessed and will track up rather than down. she is in for the next 4-5 days being hot poulticed but wondered what is best to do to turn her out after this period, he said to use a protective boot and i looked at the hoofeeze boots but with all the mud its defo going to be sucked off. Ive found some latex footskins on ebay and wondered if anyone had tried them before or if they are even intended for turnout?
