I’m pretty late to the party and watching last nights dressage freestyle. Lewis Carrier is a lovely rider ❤️ so quiet. This test is a joy to watch. Also nice to see whole horse extend in the extended trot, rather than just flying legs. Never seen him before but looking forward to seeing him ride again!

Just spotted this thread! I loved watching Lewis Carrier - there were a few errors in there but his riding is so soft and light. Great to see Becky Moody do so well, she looked like she was having a ball and it's great to see her on the big stage. I missed the start so just went back to watch Caroline Chew's test - I think she rides Mo better than she did Joey, it was a really lovely test. I've seen Mo working at home a few times and he's amazing in the flesh (and didn't mind Chilli careering around the arena in a barely controlled canter 🤣).

I only watched the last few but have recorded it so will watch the earlier tests over the weekend.

I am another who really liked Jaegerbomb's test.

Another who loved Jagerbomb's test, such a happy looking horse and great to see the three British women taking top spots. I love Imhotep, he's so like Valegro. I had never heard of Lewis Carrier, where did he spring from? Great test though and lovely to see more younger riders coming through. It is making me even more excited about going to next year's Olympics (if that's possible) as we will have such a strong team if every horse and rider stays sound. Fingers crossed.

Am just watching the dressage on iplayer - the Belgian rider's horse Charmer really looked unhappy behind in a lot of the movements - lots of tail swishing and carrying it to the right which disappeared when they stopped.

Caroline Chew and her horse both look fab. Is she tiny or is her horse a mountain?

I was there yesterday. Noticeable that there was a huge experience/quality gap between the top three and everyone else. Some really lovely light riding despite this, the young German rider rode beautifully as did a few others including the young Brit.

Top three were all fantastic, my pick of the night was actually Lottie Fry.

I think in general there are fewer top European dressage riders heading to Olympia for the two days; presumably because it’s now much harder to travel with a horse from Europe. It is great to see how much strength and depth we have in Britain, but I do think the class would benefit from a few more high scoring combinations in the mix.

I thought that re. there being a big gap, I think that happens most years though. A lot of fussy mouths which makes for not great viewing.
What is bugging me is the piaffes/piaffe pirouettes later in the tests where they have to really obviously be spurring every stride to keep it going. It's not a good look/optics and is a bit we have to make this happen regardless.

I didn't manage to watch all of it yesterday so catching up tonight!
