Well the good the bad and the ugly would just about cover it, the good was very good the bad wa just a bit disapointing and the ugly was very ugly!!!
Dressage this was the bad, I thought he did a lovely test the judge seemed stuck on 6's, a bit disapointed with 39.6.
Show jumping you guessed it this was the Ugly! He warmed up sloppily (is that a word?) had a few down warming up. the course was huge and very few were jumping clear. He jumped 1 well then wiggled to 2 had a 1/2 stride and properly took it out! Jumped 3 and 4a tapped 4b behind and it came down, jumped 5, 6 was a triple bar got in short and he had the back rail, jumped 7 which alot had stopped at, over rode it and made to much distance to 8 and had it down infront. had 9a down behind, jumped 9b and c and 10 the dreaded planks. so all in all 5 down, think that the step up was a bit of a shock to him but pleased he tried and didnt stop!
Cross Country - the good
Walked the course between dressage and SJ so could watch a few horses round. Was surprised how big some of them were, esp the foot bridge at 16.
There was a hold on the course when i got there and the poor rider was taken off in an ambulance. this didnt help my nerves!
He was very excited at the start took it steady over the first three as it was twisty and i wanted to realise the fences were bigger. one to four were just big solid spread fences he jumped these great, 5 was a drop, he took off a bit after this down the hill, 6 was a skinni triple brush locked on and jumped it nicely. 7 a big hay type cart, flew it, 8a a palisade with ditch took off and easily made the 3 strides to part b, 9 was 2 angled logs no problem, 10 a drop then 11 a wide oxer, 12a was a log two strides down a step one stride up a step (13a) and 2 strides to a narrow, he was very honest here as we were on the buckle! 14 a roll top (huge) 4 strides to a big brush corner, locked on and jumped. 16 ws the foot bridge, I saw a short stride and a less honest horse wouldnt have gone, he put in a huge leap and cleared it. 17a a brush with ditch infront 4 strides to a skinni, no problem. 18 a big brush fence with ditch infront. 19 two house on 4 strides the second one skinni, he locked on and jumped it great. next was the water, our bogey fence, I will post a pic tomorrow showing the drop! shortened him right up then rode forwards to it, he leapt in, then jumped part B on a very acute angle, again very honest. 21 was an owl hole no problem, then a long gallop to 22 a horse shoe, pulled up over a minute over the time but thrilled with him, maybe he will eventually make a good intermediate horse, just need to sort the Show jumping!!
Sorry it was so long!!
