what would your two stars and a wish about your horse be and why?
star: really gentle and loving with everyone she likes.
Star: Really beautiful and a dream to ride.
Wish: She wasn't quite so spooky around motorbikes. This one's because I have lovely quite country lanes I am itching to take her out on!
Bit of a fun post really. :)

star-Lovely personality
star-will try his hardest for you
wish-He was 2 years younger

Wish(for a friends horse) that someone hadn't over jumped him causing incurable lameness, meaning his is going to be flying high soon. :(

I am so sorry for your friend. When I used to jump my old instructor lost a hose on her livery yard because owner jumped too hard and too high.

Star - probably the most intelligent horse I've ever known. Forgets nothing she's learnt!
Star - she's pretty

Wish - to make her well

I'm going to do the boy horse as well.

Star - cuddliest horse EVER!
Star - loves kids and won't twitch a muscle while they groom him

Wish - I can't wish for the ringbone to vanish because he wouldn't have come to me if he'd been sound, but I wish for many, many years of keeping him comfortable because the thought of not having that nose to cuddle is horrible.

Star - he's a lovely person, kind with a slightly cheeky streak, so he's not so nice that he's boring.
Star - very handsome and extremely talented.
Wish - I could ride him half as well as he deserves!

Star 1: enormous brain - she's so, so clever and easy to train
Star 2: she makes me laugh, always pulling faces, stealing things and throwing them around, demanding a kiss, and begging for a butt scratch.
Wish: I have 2 - first that she'd stop straining a ligament in her fetlock, and second that she'd stop tipping my full wheelbarrow over!

For Kira:
star - her cute happy personality
star - she's really trainable
wish: that she was taller :o next horse is going to have to be a giant as I'm fed up of dragging my feet along the floor!

For Millie
star - super attitude to work, always ready to go
star - she can read my mind, we know each other so well
wish: that she was 10 years younger, and we could do it all over again :(

star; he is loyal and gentle
star; I can trust him anywhere in hand
wish; he hadn't had such a bad life and racing and eventing hadn't broken his body down :(

Lovely thread! :)

star: never makes a fuss and is super easy to handle/load/shoe/clip/worm/vet
star: loves hacking, or just hanging out being spoiled
wish: that I was advanced enough to bring her on properly OR that she'd been broken to ride properly after leaving the racing yard

star: slow learner but gets there in the end and often has a "eureka" moment when he suddenly understands what is being asked/that something doesn't really hurt/that I will save him from the demons and is pleased with himself!
star: loves to work
wish: he could learn to be less worried about everything and be a bit more relaxed

This sounds like a horse I used to ride. He was the gentlest sweetest thouroughbred ever but he had been raced too long and hard. He had really flat feet and couldn't do to much. His arthritis and joints meant no one over 8 stone could ride him. Sadly a few of my instructors have told me of lovely horses ridden too long and too hard and sometimes having to be destroyed or retired before they were 10. :(

My mare is like this. She takes all her confidence from her rider. I hold my breath she does too. I tense up she does too. I feel like I don't want to be here because I'm scared she spooks.

I know exactly what you mean but it has made me "fake" confidence with my lad - and sing a lot! I am sure I have deafened by usual riding companion :) But it does work - if I feel him begin to tense, I have to completely ignore it, almost to the point of going floppy, so that he decides there is nothing to worry about. If I ride him too positively, he gets wound up thinking there may well be something to be scared of...

my boy:

star: he's so friendly and cuddly and loves attention. He even loves having his legs washed!
star: he's very sensible, he doesn't often get spooked by things and very rarely hurts himself or stresses about stuff, just generally easy to hack and look after.
wish: that he wasn't such a good doer. He hates muzzles and restricted grazing, but he's managed to get fat again this winter living out unrugged with zero feed or hay.

daughter's pony:

star: he's such a gentle creature, totally missed out on the "fight" bit of fight or flight.
star: he always does all his poos in one neat pile
wish: that whatever happened to him in the past never happened. Even after 2 years he still flinches at a raised arm and has a total panic attack at an angry voice - even if its just the neighbour shouting at his dog.

My mare does this too. You have to be utterly relaxed with her or she gets would up and all hyperaware.
She has another star though: She has never had lami, sweet itch, she is a very good doer and her feet are excellent.
another wish too: She would start acting better around men. She just doesn't like men for some reason.

You know I have really struggled to pick just 2 stars - I could write and write about this horse as we have been together through so much, and he just keeps giving.

Star: he is the kindest most genuine horse I have ever met

Star: so very careful and clever and learns so fast

Wish: that he was 10 years younger - we are having so much fun with our jumping but I know we are on borrowed time with him being 21 this year. I dread having to retire him as he loves his work and hates being a field ornament.

If you have more stars or wishes then that is great feel free to put them!

What a lovely thread. Thank you horselady.

Little horse
Star: he's the most affectionate and loving horse I've ever owned.
Star: he makes every single day a joy, at home, at competitions, anywhere.
Wish: for nothing... I honestly couldn't wish for anything more than he is.

Middle horse
Star: he's the most successful horse I've ever had.
Star: he's a real head-turner everywhere we go.
Wish: the success didn't have to come at the price of him being the most difficult horse I've ever worked with.

New horse
Star: sweet and obliging to work with
Star: completely trusting and very rider-focused
Wish: I could chop three inches of her huge ears.

This is a lovely thread!
star: the sweet, genuine and kind.
Star: so pretty!
Wish: for her to be without her ailments. Can I wish that she could talk too so she can tell me how she feels Day to day?

I've only had him since January and I really wasnt sure he was staying for a while but I've never known a horse come round so quickly and change so much that I cant imaging being without him now!

star: he trusts me. He had a bit of a rough start in life and was a bit quirky when he first arrived but we've worked through most of it now and hes an absolute pleasure to have around

star: I took him to his first show and my non horsey OH showed him for me as I'm disabled and cant run etc. I knew that he would be fine with him and thats not something I would say for most horses.

wish: that he had a black tail and more dark patches than white!

My Appy:
Star - An absolute saint in all traffic
Star - A Hunting superstar
Wish - I wish he would load and travel better then we would be able to get out a lot more!

My ISH:
Star - He has super manners on the ground and when ridden
Star - He is a fab jumper
Wish - That we could get to the bottom of his head shaking
