Im taking my mare to her first show tomorrow and i plan to put a red ribbon in her tail as she has a tendancy to kick out if other horses get too close (just a wave of the leg, she doesnt go for a full on boot) and it might help her to not get overwhelmed, thing is, im not plaiting as she doesnt need to be so how would i go about attaching it to her tail? I hate the way it looks if its just tied in and want to keep her looking smart, any ideas are appreciated 😊

Pull a piece of tail from each side and a centre piece and do a couple of twists as if plaiting. Then put plaiting band round and thread ribbon through, tie a loopy droopy bow.
Can tie the ribbon onto the plaiting band 1st as makes it easier.

This is what I do. Stays put nicely.

As FF says. Or as I do for the Dales, which is similar but you use a small amount of hair from the sides and middle to make a mini plait. Secure with a band, roll up the end and secure again then tie your ribbon round the whole lot. Google Dales plaiting and you will see the effect - basically full tail but ribbon at the top. It's pretty secure.
