On my phone so link may be a bit sketchy, you might have to do a bit of copying/pasting..

Ok so it's not quite barrell racing yet, but we've only been practising for 20 minutes...with a chair!

Our obedience club plans to have doggy barrell racing as a competition :D
some of the clever dogs in the top classes wizz around all three barrells so quickly if you blink you miss them. Its great to watch :p

He has no desire to go anywhere quickly lol! I'm sure we'll get there...
I've learnt hes very one sided, he got 'right' so quickly and when I started trying to teach 'left' he would approach from the correct side & then quiclkly duck round and circle it 'right' lol. Took him ages to get 'left' and hes still a bit confused by it

I taught him with treats, leading him around the object with cheese and putting a direction with it, then gradually taking away the treats and keeping the hand gestures (and treating at the end) then starting to move further back and trying to 'send' him round.

We've not been practiding long, but it sure tired him out using his brain like that. He's shattered now :p

You can see him thinking about it when you send him the reverse way, clever lad Ty. Evie does something similar with a cone but to practice her send away so she goes down after going round it, I use a clicker for training.

Im wondering how to speed him up, I've tried sending him around the chair, saying 'good' as he's going round the correct way, and then rolling his treat away for him to chase - but this just means he walks up to the chair and goes round it very slowly & then bombs off really fast once hes gone round!

Clever boy Ty wont be long, look forward to seeing that.

I loved the other video, might try and teach my two shutting the door because Ive giving up trying to teach my daughter who is under the illusion we live in a barn.

I would get him 100% solid at slow first and then stop marking for a slow round and hope you get a extinction burst that makes him faster then only mark for the faster round.
