I thought I’d update this as there have been changes. I ordered the small tub of Ron Fields Pre ULC Powder (anyone else think it smells like bubblegum??). He’s not been on it long but he’s already more relaxed. He goes to bite me when the girth is done up one side and I go down to grab it from the other side but no reaction when I go to do it up. There’s no bucking into canter either. Obviously it’s only been a few days and I’ll monitor it

i feed mine some soaked hay before riding, not a lot, also soaked hay can be nice and soft, also meadow hay is less stalky, buying expensive medications cant be avoided, but you can do lots of things that cost little and will help a lot with comfort and may hasten healing

i never use chaff stuff now, i use allen and page fast fibre or calm and condition, bulky and soft

OP, you mention that he scoped clear in Feb. Do be mindful that they usually return, as did my mares (time and time again), and annoyingly its right back to the beginning again with the meds.
Also re insurance, my claim was open for 12 months and we claimed the maximum of £5k (I've since spent at least the same out of my own pocket).
